Looking for something massive this is it, I got 3 more for my NAS

Shipped all the way from the US of A and the drive is working perfectly. Am now coping files over continuously for 12 hours, the drive is quiet but heated up a little. Overall a good buy but delivery took longer than expected.

Bought and installed the HDD in my Drobo almost 2 months ago and it has been running since then without any issue. I'm pleased.

Setup 6 of these drives (22TB) in a RAID 10 on my Synology 1621+. So far, so good.

22TB is a lot of storage but I need it. I normally buy Seagate enterprise HDDs but they do not yet produce one in 22TB size. The warranty on the Ultrastar is 5 years just like the Seagate. So far the HDD has been good. I hope to have no problems with it.

I dischi WD HC570 da 22TB sono unità di classe enterprise/datacenter che offrono un ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. Ne ho acquistati due per creare un mirror ZFS su Linux, integrandoli con due SSD Kingston DC500m già in mio possesso (questi ultimi utilizzati come special device per metadati e dataset specifici). In questo modo, ho realizzato un sistema di storage con prestazioni intermedie tra SSD e dischi magnetici, ma a una frazione del costo di un sistema basato esclusivamente su SSD SATA di pari capacità. Infatti, nonostante il filesystem ZFS sia criptato, i trasferimenti di decine di gigabyte (ad esempio dischi di macchine virtuali) da NVMe a ZFS si mantengono su velocità tra 300 e 400 MB/s. Inoltre, lo storage realizzato offre anche livelli di integrità dei dati di livello professionale, non solo grazie alle caratteristiche di robustezza di ZFS ma anche al fatto che tutti i dischi da me impiegati per tale filesystem hanno una protezione contro le cadute di alimentazione che consente di completare le operazioni di scrittura nei buffer RAM presenti sulle unità di storage (i WD HC570 sfruttano l’inerzia della rotazione del disco per fornire l'energia necessaria, mentre i Kingston DC500m sono dotati di condensatori ad elevata capacità). Ovviamente, ciò non esime dall'effettuare backup regolari. I due HC570 sono leggermente rumorosi durante carichi di lavoro intensi, ma personalmente non li trovo fastidiosi. La temperatura resta abbastanza contenuta, a patto che il case abbia una buona ventilazione, soprattutto in estate, per evitare un aumento oltre i 50°C (pur potendo tollerare temperature fino a 60°C, è preferibile mantenersi al di sotto di questo limite per garantire la longevità dei dischi). In sintesi, sono più che soddisfatto dell’acquisto.

Update: The drive has been fairly well soak-tested and appears ok. The 5 year WD warranty is registered ok. Will update once loaded with data. Update2: So far this has performed brilliantly. runs a little hotter than exos drives but performs well
