File this one under Motown singles that most people don't think of as Motown singles (similar to "Oh How Happy" by Shades of Blue):(Just Like) Romeo and Juliet has a definite Motownish feel with the handclaps and great, energetic harmonies,(best enjoyed when you crank up the sound a bit). You can almost smell the burgers and fries at the drive-in! This tune is the opposite of girl group teen angst stuff; you might call it "guy-angst" instead, cause it's all about impressin' your girl. Their other great single is "Poor Man's Son" (sorry, I never once heard "Just Like Columbus Did" on the radio where I lived, but it sounds like a pale copycat record to me, and not a very good one, a case of unimaginative duplication. C'mon guys, nothin' romantic about Columbus!)"Poor Man's Son" is a beautiful single with a great melody and arrangement to match. Once again, it's young man angst of the "Am I good enough for her?" variety, a common theme in that era, and it really can tug at your heart too 'cause the guy lets us know that despite a tough job, he whistles while he works just thinkin' about his girl. As I remember,the flip side of the single packed it's own punch, called "Comin' At You", so this was a single that for me hit the jackpot. I would call these guys at least 2-hit wonders in my book, so let's give 'em their props!

this is a high quality CD release from 1995, and it contains all the a and b sides of the Reflections 45's and LP tracks. I liked this album. it has a motown sound. every song can be listened to in the background. my favourite is "the Long Cigarette". there is an 8 page liner notes booklet included. some of the songs are recorded off LP's. I have a Betty Everett CD which has the same sound quality issues on some of the songs. I liked the instrumental at the end.

The Reflections should have had mor hits than they did. Not a bad tune on this disc!!

I purchased this disc more for the title of the album than anything else. Romeo and Juliet was a popular hit in the early 60's'and i was very pleased with the sound quality. I was surprised to learn the band had recorded so many tracks in a short time. Happy bunny oh, just out of curiosity, if you have never heard the above song before,log in to You Tube, type in title and band, and have a blast from the past. :)
