John Carpenter's Village Of The Damned [Blu-ray]

Great thriller / horror from John Carpenter. The image is pretty darn good of this blu ray and what i didn't expected, the audio is fantastic for a movie of this age. Highly recommended.

Yet again another fantastic horror/sci-fi remake from the master John Carpenter who has made so many cult favourite movies, this is another one of his best titles, a great movie with an exciting story and a great cast, A small town is invaded by a mysterious force that renders everything living unconscious for a short while, once awaken everything appears normal until ten women simultaneously discover they are pregnant, these children all born at the same time grow to display unique powers that begin to control the town and the people in it, and before long the adults realise they must be stopped! The movie has some great looking effects mainly with the cool demonic eyes of the children, there is plenty of dread and suspense and violence as they turn the town upside down, the cast is all superb Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley, Linda Kozlowski, Mark Hamill, are all classic stars, the child actors are great too especially Lindsey Haun the leader who is a very cold character, this is a gem of a Carpenter movie and is a must for the horror collection especially now its on Blu-ray.The Blu-ray 1080p HD picture looks fantastic!Unfortunately the only feature is a trailer,Region B only, 94-mins, 1995 (original release) 2015 (Blu-ray)

Stands alone as a good John Carpenter movie and still s worthy remake of the original film.

Obviously a reviewer here believes extras are more important than a nice HD upgrade from DVD, each to their own I guess. Nice release from Fabulous Films. Nice transfer. We should be just grateful that this has been released on blu ray. There is a lot of talk regarding black bars at the side during the opening scenes. This is normal and only in the credit sequence. Some of the scope James Bond movies on blu ray are the same. Great release and fans should just be happy that this got a nice HD release. Recommended

I saw this movie in the year it was released into London cinemas. I liked it then and I like it now it has worn well in the 25 years, just goes to show some films do not date. I am also in possession of the 1960 version and must state that that version has also worn well. Both films are highly recommended.

First of all I must say, the delivery was incredibly fast!NOW. The important part, the movie. Absolute classic! This film is a fantastic remake and has some amazing casting. I highly recommend you see this film, even if you rent it first or see it with a friend. You'll want to see it again.

Just finished watching this movie and thoroughly enjoyed it. Being a huge John Carpenter fan I have enjoyed every Carpenter movie as well as the music. Although to be honest - and I’m showing my age here - I think I preferred the original film with George Sanders and that’s not taking anything away from Christopher Reeves but Sanders was a hard act to follow. Still, in my opinion it’s well worth watching.
