Having struggled with RED-S and hormonal imbalance for a lot of my adult life this book has helped me understand the true impact this has had on me. It explains the science in an easy to understand way and emphasises the importance of hormones for sports performance as well as everyday life.Nicky is an expert in her field and this book is testament to that. A must read for all athletes who want to reach their full potential but also for anyone who wants a better understanding of the importance hormones play in living a full and healthy life.

A very useful and informative book for athletes of all levels and women in general.

Well written book on a fascinating topic
A lucid explanation of our hormone networks and the roles they play at different stages of life. Our hormones provide a communication link between our internal physiology and the external environment: the nexus between nature and nurture. Dr Keay explains how our lifestyle choices allow us to harness our hormones in order to live life to the full.

Understand
We are often told to eat a healthy diet, do more exercise and get a good night’s sleep. This book goes a step further and explains why: the benefits of a healthy lifestyle are driven by our hormones. As an athlete, this detailed understanding of the mechanisms driving human performance has highlighted the true importance of appropriate fuelling and recovery to get the most from my training.

Extremely well written. Extensive coverage of the role of hormones through the different stages of life. Lots of practical advice that's referenced with scientific data and research. Easy to dip and dip out of. Essential reading for coaches / trainers who want further their CPD to help their athletes, athletes of all levels who want to understand how to improve their performance and for parents who want to better understand the changes going on active / sporty children. Also recommended for non sporting men & women who want to better understand hormone changes in their body as they age and how they can improve their health.
