The Magic of Mini Pies: Sweet and Savory Miniature Pies and Tarts

This book reads like it was written by someone who doesn't have a lot of experience in the kitchen. While this book has a lot of recipes, they're VERY basic and often vague and the pictures don't represent how they say to make the recipe. Lastly,there are many other ways to make crusts... I think they listed five total? Disappointing, considering every recipe needs a crust. Buy "joy of cooking" and educate yourself before taking half measures with whatever this is.

I am so excited about this cookbook, because I LOVE pie (as does my partner). While I'm happy to eat an entire apple pie (almost by myself!) the idea of having selection of different types of pies without needing to make full sized pies is awesome! Especially when you start to think about savory pies - it becomes actual meals instead of just dessert. Abigail Gehring's book is perfect - adorable, simple, concise and with gorgeously mouth watering pictures of mini pies. I love her 4 different homemade pie crust recipes that you can mix and match with different fillings options. A great buy for anyone who loves baking and loves pies.

It has many recipes for both savory and sweet mini pies. I've not tried all of them, but the ones I have turned out well and were tasty. Great companion for an electric mini pie maker

This book was a great find. We have an electric mini pie maker as well as mini pie and mini tart pans for baking in a conventional oven that will now see more use. Abigail has certainly put together a wide range of meat, vegetable, and fruit pies that can be used for both dinner and desserts. I was especially impressed with the "Eggplant Parmesan Tarts" and "Spinach Mushroom Quiches" recipes. Great job! I will probably be looking into purchasing more of her books that are hopefully as good as this one.

Have only used one recipe so far, but it's a winner! The author gives helpful hints at the beginning of the book for newbie mini-pie makers, and each recipe is on a single page with a full-color picture of the finished pie on the facing page. The only thing that could have been added to make this a perfect book would be the nutritional breakdown for each recipe. I made the apple mini pies, and they are delicious. The author includes several crust recipes, so I used the basic crust recipe, which came out very nice. The apple recipe was easy to follow and so tasty and was enough to make four mini pies.

This book has some nice recipes for both sweet and savory mini pies. I do like the fact that there are recipes for pies I never would have considered making in my mini pie maker (crusts included). There are actually recipes in there I look forward to trying for my upcoming trip to bring with for quick meals/snacks and some desserts as well.

I received notification of this book's existence because of my purchasing history, and decided to buy it. I'm a savory cook, but sweet is interesting as well, and this book details both. I have also wondered about making small rather than large pies for guests and family. This book gives ideas for that quite well.

These are absolutely wonderful. My grandkids love coming over and making pies to take home. Goes without saying, my husband loves the fact that I can prepare apple, blueberry, etc. pies 'on demand'. LOL Wonderful product and so versatile.

Good recipes but I wouldn't have bought this had it not been on Amazon discount as it's a US book and in US weights and measures.

Lots of recipes for special pie maker, which I don't have, so need to adapt timings etc

I really liked the idea of this book, but the pies are not inspiring at all. I have owned it for a while now, but haven't made a thing.
