Does what it says.
Trying to ferment wine in winter (which is when my grapes are finally ripe enough) is tricky because I don't have heating on in the house constantly. This pad looked like a possible solution and it works well. It keeps the demijohn contents about 6-8C above room temperature which gives me a temperature of around 22-24C, though overnight it has dropped as low as 18C.It would be better if there was a thermostat and/or variable heat settings, but it does the job as it is. It's big enough for a brew bin, and as long as I don't mind a bit of overhang I can keep three demijohns warmed.I'm quite happy with it. it's nothing sophisticated but it does the job I need it for.

Effective but needs supervision
I found it worked very well to heat a 23-litre must of wine, but it's best to use a timer with it (not supplied), as it will overshoot if you leave it on. With the ambient temperature at 17 degrees, it raised the wine temperature to 27 degrees after operating for four hours overnight, which was a little more than I wanted, and fermentation had ramped up to a slightly frantic pace. For subsequent nights, I set the timer for bursts of 30 minutes on, 60 minutes off, which seemed to produce a more even and moderate temperature. It needs a bit of trial and error, but I think this would enable me to keep brewing through the winter in my kitchen area, where it gets rather chilly, especially overnight.

Great heating pad, No more worries where to place your Home brew to get correct Temperature.
Excellent heating pad. Perfect for keeping your Home brew at the correct temperature. Very high quality and simple to use. Just place the Mat under the Brewing Bin and plug it in. No more worries about where to put your home brew as you can place this anywhere and by keeping it at the correct temperature will give you great results. Makes the fermenting period a lot easier and more convenient. Highly recommended Heat mat.

It's a heating pad, it heats things.
Delivered promptly and works just fine. It is not temperature regulated, once it is one, it is on. So regulation of heat is by adjusting how much of the brewing container sits on the pad. But that is fine and it does exactly what I want it to.

Great
Bought this as my house is too cold in winter to brew at the correct temperature and I made a pretty naff batch of ale as it was just too slow. Previous reviews said this adds 5 to 7 Deg to room temperature and for my 23l keg this is about right. My ale is bubbling away nicely. The heat is subtle but effective.

Works but got a bit too warm for my liking
So my room is ambiently at 18c which was a bit chilly for some wine I wanted to make, I got this to try and locally warm up my demijohn. Well, it warmed it up but it would often send it a bit too warm, somewhere in the region of 28c, this meant I was checking every few hours or so and turning the mat on and off. Not ideal but it seemed to work.

Great purchase
Having only previously owned a belt style warmer I wasn't sure how this would work out. It does however work very well and I have had it on for 2 brews now and there have been no issues at all.I'm even thinking of switching all of my belts to the pads instead as they are easier to fit than a belt.
