Men's Ortlieb Back-Roller City Bicycle Bag (1 Pair) - Black/Red, 40 Litre

Ok, so I've owned these for about 5 months now and I have to review them.They're amazing, and I want to walk through what makes these bags so great.Every detail of these bags is considered. They are fully waterproof, we filled it full of water and with the top rolled down properly no water leaked out, even when turning upside down. The material is very strong and feels to be good quality. The bag comes with reflective patches on the side to catch the attention of cars, and stuffing stuff into these bags they always seems to keep their profile and don't bulge out too much.How these lock onto the pannier frame is genius. The plastic frame ensures the pannier bags don't sag and give a good structural integrity which allows easy lifting on and off the frame. The handle unlocks the clips when lifted and when dropped onto the frame automatically lock on, ensuring this bag won't fall off when sat in the frame. Having two bikes with different style panniers, the ability to adjust the position of all three clips allows me to put the bag in the optimal position using only an Allen key and they hold an incredible amount of weight. I've carried crates of beer in these, overloaded them with heavy shopping and one time I didn't clip it on right and found it was holding a load somewhat comfortably in a single clip. Over 5 months of daily abuse I'd have forgiven some damage.I love the roll down flap, it's simple with little to break. The bag is designed with loops either side to accommodate a shoulder strap - sadly,sold separately, and I think this can be used in conjunction with the rat pack?Anyway, you won't be disappointed if you buy these bags.

I already have a set of these, purchased many years ago, but as I use them for touring and weekly shopping, small holes have started to appeal so they are no longer waterproof, I had no hesitation in buying the same set again, the only difference is that the clips on the new ones are down the side rather than at the top, this is a better idea as it keeps the folding part held down more security. My suggestions to improve them is to supply them with two bottom clips rather than one as I noticed they sometimes pop out of the rack at the bottom when heavy with gear or shopping. I had to purchase extra clips to stop this happening, it would also be helpful if they already came with the security wires and a proper carry handle/strap that you can buy separately, considering the original cost of the bags it would be better value for customers, I don't think you should have to purchase these separately.

These are basically a good quality set of paniers that are waterproof, durable and effective. The rest of this review is going to cover some little niggles, which I don't see why a high quality, £100 product can't address.I previously had Ortlieb paniers moire like the Unisex's Back-Roller Classic QL2.1 Bicycle Bag. This set had some little niggles in comparison, Firstly, there are no shoulder straps, which is a pain when you're heavily laden. You get straps with £20 bags, so to not get them with a £100 product is just miserly and bad service. Secondly, not having a strap to close the paniers at the top - another very cheap add-on - means you can't store that bit extra when you need it. I use mine for shopping, so I really notice this. This design takes longer to close than it could, too. There are also a couple of little adjustments, that I don't think add anything to the paniers, that aren't available. overall, though, it looks like Ortlieb took out a lot less than £5 worth of add-ons so they could have a premium level bag that they charged moire than £20 more for. That's poor. I only had two real niggles with my previous Ortlieb paniers, one of which these paniers solve, the other they didn't. Firstly, you could very easily adjust the position where the paniers sit on the panier rack (whereas with these ones, you need a screwdriver). That was alright in theory, but in practice the plastic mechanism was too cheap and flimsy and wore out, meaning that it became hard to control where my paniers sat on the rack, and they would even start coming off. For a premium rate product, that's low quality. Secondly, something they should deal with: the paniers are super easy to hook and unhook from the rqack, but that also means that thieves can remove your paniers when yo;re pushing your bike. the paniers are behind you so you won;t necessarily notice. This happened to me, and Ortlieb don't seem to sell the paniers singly, meaning a lot of avoidable cost. Now I realise the danger, I've bought a carribena to loop together the handles in busy places. It takes me a few moments and makes the paniers a lot harder to remove quickly (as I'm pushing the bike along). It only cost me £2. Again, you'd think Ortlieb might do something like that.I've carped a lot about Ortlieb's attitude to costs and premium features, but these are good paniers that I'd 100% recommend. I've had cheaper ones that broke more easily, things could come out of, that weren't so waterproof. These are basically a good, sturdy product.

I commute to work on my bike and needed something waterproof and durable. I was worried that only using one bag would make the bike handle differently but my fears were unfounded. Changing from a backpack to using a pannier was a world of difference and made the ride much nicer. The bags are 100% waterproof and surprisingly roomy. The only downside is that they're a bit of a pain to carry when off the bike and loaded full (ie with groceries) as the handle position/centre of gravity makes them hit your legs as you're carrying them, but really that's just a minor nitpick.

These bags are amazing! Great for cycling to the shops and for taking things to work. 100% waterproof and great value for money (basically 2 for the price of 1!) Really happy with this amazon purchase.

I was recommended to buy these from a work colleague and so far they are doing the job. Sturdy and waterproof. Had to buy separate shoulder strap (E172) to enable to carry once off bike but apart from that would recommend

No shims for the different pannier tubes are included despite the description saying they are included. It rattles.

Well made and sturdy. I was initially concerned the bags would not be big enough. In fact they can ably accommodate lap top and the collections of text books and exercise books needed for a school teacher, and even extend to cope with picking up the shopping. Now colleagues all want one. Nice work!

Really happy with the durability, the water resistance & the color. Red makes you stand out a bit when in traffic.

I've barely touched a wall in town and the marks in the fabric are very deep. I don't understand how the fabric wears so quickly. It's a sign of both bad design and poor quality. Do not choose this product or this brand. I think I will return those very "cheap" bags.

Tengo ya más de 3 años que compré las alforjas, las he usado tanto para viajes como para mis traslados diarios, son de mucha calidad los plásticos y la tela, son totalmente impermeables. Son muy fáciles de instalar y de retirar de la bicicleta, durante el viaje no se mueven y nunca hay riesgo de que se caigan, el sistema de anclaje es perfecto. Muy recomendables, valen cada peso.

Le borse sono robuste, il sistema di aggancio proprietario è una garanzia : comodo robusto veloce ed efficace. Nella confezione arrivano anche degli adattatori per far aderire perfettamente i ganci a rilascio rapido a tubi di portapacchi di qualsiasi sezione. Le borse sono molto stabili una volta regolatei oppprtunamente i sistemi di aggancio. Impermeabilità garantita. Queste borse rendono l'esperienza di trasporto di oggetti in bici un vero piacere. Facilmente adattabili al portapacchi, rimangono bel salde anche su percorsi accidentati. Robustezza e impermeabilità provata sotto un acquazzone. Capienza più che sufficiente per una escursione di 5 giorni.Pienamente soddisfatto.
