Very solid slide hammer
This is a very solid slide hammer. I purchased it to remove a CV axle on a 2013 Ford flex. I needed to order an extension....also solid. I also needed to grind the tool end wider to fit the CV axle, as others have stated; however it did not result in removing the CV axle. Not the tools fault. I called a certified mechanic who stated "some are so hard to remove it seems like you'll break the transmission case". After several days of trying.....I put it back together. Someone else will replace my leaking CV axle seal. I've tried every trick in the book.....time to pay someone. I recommend the tool.

Worked on 1997 Toyota Rav4
I did not know there was such a thing as a slide hammer, but after a day & a half of trying every conventional method of removing the CV joint on my 1997 Rav4 (driver side), I went googling for help. I ordered this slide hammer device with a 2" fork; several reviewers said the opening measures only about 1-7/8" and that it's too small for some axles. I was skeptical; I was sure that I would have to spend another $20 or so on a larger fork - based on the reviewers. When I went to use it, I had to put the fork piece in place and then screw the rod into it, but once connected....clank clank, and and the CV joint was out. I sat there in disbelief, not believing that I has struggled for days with wires, screwdrivers, wood wedges, miniature crow bars and on and on, and this simple tool removed it in less than 2 minutes. The downside....now I have a $45 tool that I'll probably never use again. I suppose I could return it for a refund, but that seems a little dishonest, so maybe someday I'll find another use for it. Hope everyone else's experience with this tool is as good as mine has been. I wonder if it could be used for extracting loose teeth.....

Works for the very picky CV axles
20yr ASE/Toyota Master Diagnostic tech. I've used massive pry bars, air hammers, and chisels for my entire career to remove CV axles. Some come right out, some give me a struggle. Just one of the things that comes with the job. The worst one have a square -cut snap ring where you have to get the snap ring just right, then apply equal pressure on both sides to remove them. I ran into a 02 Sequoia that gave me one hell of a fight, and had to throw in the towel, and had the customer return on a different day. Got the axle popper in, and it still fought me, but it did the job. I've heard techs in the shop that paid $125 for the original axle popper kit, and they reported the fork bent on the first attempt, but there's a million factors involved with their experience. Mine did the job, showed minimal wear for the struggle I put them through, and will be used again in the future.

Exactly the tool you need, at a good price, with excellent customer service.
I needed this slide hammer for a stuck CV boot, just like everyone else. It worked exactly as intended and got it free within a few minutes of use. The only gripe I have is the T handle, it can come loose. The solution is super simple though, just wrap both sides of the T with duct tape and you're good to go! Extra grip comfort, and the bar can't slide out. The seller is also very responsive and answered my questions when I had a minor issue. I highly recommend both the store, and this product specifically.

Good axle poppers, but be careful of paint/finish chipping and debris getting in parts.
These Orion Motor Tech axle poppers are decent qualithy with a good low price, but be aware that unlike most poppers they have an anti-rust pebbled black & gray paint which might chip off in frequent or hard use. If those little pieces of paint debris get inside any parts they will obviously cause wear. I am going to keep them since I'll use them rarely. But if you can pay a bit more, I'd buy one of the other good quality brands with the plain yellow finish and just keep them oiled when not in use (that finish can rust in high humidity areas). If you are a pro mechanic, obviously buy a more expensive USA or Taiwan made set that may also be a bit stronger for regular use.

Great!
Worked perfectly! Fought a rear axle bearing for 6 hours with a harbor freight cheapo, this was totally worth the $45, broke the bearing free in 2 wacks.
