These are a good set of post hole diggers, especially useful when digging 900mm deep holes, although the weight of them will fatigue your back and shoulders, but they seem solid enough, maybe opt for fibre glass ones if you have the cash to spare but they were great for the 10m fence i put up would recommend.

Yes they are on the heavy side, but that's the nature of the beast. If they were light, they wouldn't dig into the earth like they do. It's a well made product and I've just dug ten holes for the first time and I'm 61 years old. You will need a post hole shovel as well though, to help dig the hole out as you use this post hole digger, the two work hand in hand, pardon the pun.

A great piece of garden equipment, so easy to use and makes a good sized holes, for wood or concrete posts. A word of advice make sure to loosen the bottom center bolt a little or you could snap the handle clean off like I did.

Well I only needed to sink 12 wooden posts 2 feet into the ground to attach 3ft high picket fence to seperate part of our garden for a new puppy.However decided to buy this fence digger for the job and glad I did.Instead of having to use a normal shovel to dig a large area to be able to extract 2 foot of soil for each hole this item dug a neat hole just right for a post, It is a pretty heavy item so you need to have average fitness and you need to turn it around each time otherwise you cannot get the earth out after about 18 inches down.My problem is that my garden is heavy clay after 3 inches of top soil. This meant that I had to loosen the pliable clay off the digging spades each time it entered the ground adding to the exertion and often it wouldn't lift out bit like trying to remove soft plastersean.Yet fortunately this item is very robust and able to take a pounding despite me having to put a lot of pressure moving it around each time to loosen the soil.Make sure you mark both handles to the depth you want to dig too.An excellent quality product and although a tad expensive you get what you pay for with Spear and Jackson..a quality product that does the job under some strain on it.

A really useful tool that I wish I had purchased earlier.

These are great for digging holes - much better than trying to use a single spade, although they do give your arms a great workout. They are fairly heavy, and lifting them out is tough work, but the weight works for you when digging the hole in the first place.Used these for 6 fence post holes, digging them all out to 2 foot depth in about 40 minutes. The handles are very robust too - with a 'neverbend' sticker on them suggesting they won't bend under stress - I have no reason to doubt this as they are really chunky!

Very strong works well a bit heavy well worth the money

Purchased these to make it easier to put up a new fence..They do the job but are very flimsy.. the metal the hinged section is made from is thin and distorted badly during use..It got the job done but I am really unimpressed with them..

Les manches en bois sont de très mauvaise qualité (poreux). Un des manche à cassé après 5 minutes d'utilisation sans avoir forcé dessus !

Ich habe diesen Erdauslochheber ausschließlich auf Grund der sehr positiven Produktrezensionen bestellt und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Ja, er wiegt ein paar Kilo, aber mal ehrlich: Wie weit würden Sie mit z.B. einer Spitzhacke oder einem Vorschlaghammer kommen, wenn diese in Leichtbauweise aus Carbon gefertigt sind?! Gerade das Eigengewicht ist doch der ausschlaggebende Faktor. Und ohne das Gewicht müsste man das dreifache an eigener Kraft aufwenden um die gleiche Aufschlagenergie zu erzeugen. Genau so verhält es sich auch bei diesem Erdlochausheber, der meiner Meinung nach, das optimale Gewicht hat. Nicht zu leicht, aber auch nicht wirklich schwer. Die besten Ergebnisse erzielt man mit dem Teil, indem man ihn mit voller Kraft in den Boden stößt und dafür darf er nicht zu leicht sein. Nun aber zu meinen Erlebnissen: Als ich ihn ausgepackt hatte, dachte ich erst: "Ok, etwas wackelig, ob das gut geht?". Dann sah ich aber, dass die beiden Holzstangen einfach zu eng standen und sich das Metall dadurch leicht verhakt. Dies war aber lediglich dem Versand geschuldet, da hier die Holzstangen zu eng zusammen gebunden sind. Bei der Arbeit müssen (und sind) die Holzstangen weiter auseinander (sonst funktioniert das Graben nur schwerlich) und da wackelt auch nichts. Nachdem ich dann den halben Tag im Garten rum gewerkelt hatte, bereits geduscht war und mich eigentlich auf der Couch platzieren wollte, habe ich mich kurzer Hand entschlossen, den Erdlochheber mal "eben" auszuprobieren. Ich wollte sowieso noch ein Metallrohr für ein Vogelhäuschen eingraben. Zu meiner großen Verwunderung war ich nach nicht einmal 5min ohne größere Anstrengung bei 60cm Tiefe und das Loch sah so sauber aus, als hätte ich es gefräst. Das Loch ist ca. 18cm breit. Kleiner geht es mit diesem Erdlochheber nicht. Am nächsten Tag habe ich noch zwei ca. 35cm breite und 100cm tiefe Löcher für eine Schaukel ausgehoben. Ging sehr gut, war aber dennoch anstengend. Nicht so anstrengend als hätte ich es mit der Schaufel gemacht, aber schon mit Anstrengungen verbunden. Zur selben Zeit waren zwei Arbeiten im meinem Garten zu Gange, welche einen Zaun setzen und die Löcher per Hand graben. Diese haben mit einem Spitzspaten mit mehr Kraftanstrengung genau so lange gebraucht und teilweise schon bei 60cm aufgehört, da unser Boden sehr hart ist. Wieder ein Zeichen für die Qualität des Erdlochhebers. Wirklich anstrengend war nur, den Erdaushub bei 1m Tiefe aus dem Loch zu holen und dann noch 50cm hoch in meine XXL Schubkarre zu heben. Die Bewegung ähnelte einer Kniebeuge mit nachfolgenden Strecksprung. Ich würde das Teil wieder kaufen.
