wonderful Learning Tool
The chapters in this book are engaging and fun to read. Not only did I enjoy learning more about Roma, I have increased my vocabulary and the ability to practice using these words and phrases in sentences. The insights and tips sections included in each chapter are extremely helpful in understanding the nuances of the language and false friends. The translation activities provide just the right amount of challenge to encourage me to stretch and grow when learning to express myself in Italian. I highly recommend this book.It is a helpful and practical learning tool. So happy to have found Serena's books to assist me on my quest to understand and speak Italian. Great job, Serena! Grazie mille.

Great learning tool
Not only are the stories fun and interesting, Serena helps with grammar points as well as cultural explanations. The exercises must be done in order to imprint the vocabulary and the grammar points into your brain. The books at this level are perfect for understanding grammar lessons that you may have forgotten. With Serena's excellent teaching methods, you can now remember your Italian, even when you are stuck in an English speaking place, like California. LOL I practice Serena's book with a couple of other learners. These are great learning tools. Thank you Serena. Grazie mille!

Fantastic Resource
I follow the author on Instagram and thought I would give this book a try. It is an excellent resource for me as a strong beginner or low intermediate learner. Each chapter follows the same structure. A passage to read. ( I also purchased the audio book and I wish there was a discount on that if one bought the book but oh well!). An explanation of key points and vocab; sentence practice to use new words; comprehension exercise; translation exercise and questions to promote thought and practice. This is a great find and I highly recommend this book to supplement your Italian learning.

Enjoyable Italian book
I found this book written by Serena Capilli to be a joyful read. It tells the story of Paul, whose passion is teaching his native language (English) and who is given a trip to Italy as a birthday gift. The unfolding of his journey tells a nice story of a dream fulfilled. Along the way the reader learns vocabulary, insights and tips on Italian usage, selected idioms, and finally, cultural insights. Ms. Capelli clearly is a gifted teacher and she has a lot to offer the reader. I highly recommend this book for the beginning intermediate level learner of this beautiful language.

A fun and enjoyable read to improve your Italian
This story of Paul and his trip to Rome is a fun and relatable way to learn Italian in the context of everyday life, conversation and the culture of Rome. The expressions and idioms highlighted and reviewed at the end of each bite-size chapter are a fun way to learn the gold nuggets of language and are quite helpful in advancing conversation-based language learning. It is a very valuable book and one that I will go back for review over time.

Great for improving your italian and learning about rome! Fun exercises :)
I've read a number of italian books in the past year, but I found this one to be simply the best: the chapters are short enough that you can easily get through the end in minutes without feeling overwhelmed by the new vocabulary or grammar. Between chapters you'll find useful explanations on typical mistakes beginner learners make. And the best is that at the end of the book I could tell I knew Rome better than I ever did.

Helpful in progressing beyond Duolingo Italian
Using language apps helps build vocabulary but this series of short stories strengthens reading and writing skills. Well-designed format.Having to toggle back to the website for the answer keys was a bit annoying but not overly so.

Consigliato!
Sono un’insegnante di italiano per stranieri e uso regolarmente le storie brevi con i miei studenti principianti. La storia è piacevole e finalizzata all’apprendimento di un italiano realmente parlato in Italia. È utile per consolidare alcune strutture grammaticali e ogni capitolo presenta delle informazioni culturali e delle domande di comprensione utili per stimolare la conversazione. Ottimo testo per sviluppare tutte le competenze degli studenti beginners. Consigliato!

Easy and educational read
As an Canadian of Italian descent, I learned to speak a dialect from a town in southern Italy. So speaking and reading proper Italian, while easier for me than for a non-italian - was always a challenge. I really enjoyed this book. I was able to read and understand 95% of it but also learned the proper way to say and write so many words and terms. Thank you

Simply the Best!
I really enjoyed this book. I felt my Italian improving by leaps & bounds. I loved all the exercises associated with each chapter, which really consolidate learning. There's no chapter translations, as with the first book in the series, but the vocabulary is comprehensive enough to work out the general gist. Phrases in context are given rather than individual words, which is more helpful. Exercises for preposition use is excellent, the answers can be found on the website for free. Useful explanations of Italian culture are given and woven into the story. In all, this book does very well on encouraging active learning as opposed to passive learning that you find in many other language learning books, and this is what will push your learning forward. I especially like that the audio is available separately from audible so you don't have to pay a monthly subscription fee which a lot of other language learning books do, and it really puts me off. So, mille grazie Serena, you are already the best Italian teacher to me and in book form only is quite an achievement!
