This is lovely little treasure chest. It was a gift for my 6 year old son for him to put his special treasures in (jewels, fidget spinners, grossers gang figures and other highly important stuff!) it’s big enough to fit quite a few things in but still fits into a bookshelf. The secret compartment is a nice touch and the twist skull lock does the job well. I think it’s a quality product for a good price.

I had been nervous about ordering this since the price looked a little steep for a box, but I can honestly say it's one of the best value toys I have ever purchased. The quality is good and my 2 and 5 year old daughters have played with it for quite some time every day for the past 2 weeks and show no sign whatsoever of tiring of it. The only thing that I would say is that it needs some extra treasure, but I had understood this from the description and ordered some extra. Add a "Pirate treasure (60 pieces)" with a dozen necklaces and lots of extra gold and silver coins and you're away (I also ordered a good pirate telescope which really went down well and adds to the fun of the treasure hunts). The hidden compartment is difficult to get into for little fingers and tedious to remove small items from, but that is (at least for me) not a big issue. Thoroughly recommended.

This is a really nice treasure chest. Very nicely made with lots of details to make it look like the real thing. It is a greaying colour not the wood colour I was expecting but I don't think this is a big proble. The padlock scull is absolutely lovely. The chest is not too big or too small. Its just the right size for little pirates to hide their treasure inside. There is even a hidden area at the bottom of the chest. The accessories that come with it are ok but even with them inside its rather empty. I had to buy extra coins, jewels and a treasure map to add to it. Thinking with my head I would say overall it is a bit expensive for what you get (maybe £15 would be a more representative price). On the other hand I can't put a price on seeing my sons reaction when he found it, opened it and started going through all his treasure. Great success!

I consider this an absolute bargain! Bought for my 3yr old niece for Christmas. She loves it. Very authentic wooden box - well crafted, doesn't look cheap or nasty at all. The skull on the front turns to open/lock the box - very easy for a child to use. Inside is a hidden compartment at the bottom of the box which is lots of fun, a velvet bag of plastic gold money, a jolly rodger flag and an eye patch (which is velcro fastening for safety). Very impressed, and a happy niece!

The box is sturdy and looks like a proper worn treasure box. Love the secret compartment. My great nephew, 6 loves it, as does his cousins 5 & 4 & his brother 2!!! Bit of a fight over coins and eye patch!!!

The Treasure Chest was for my Pirate daft, 4 year old nephew. He totally loved it. The chest is very large and is of excellent quality. The Jolly Roger banner is also very good, while the coins are just basic plastic but their design is extremely authentic. The eye patch is ok, unfortunately it didn't fit my nephew but should fit an older child, between the age of 5-8. The star of this product though has to the chest. As I mentioned before the build quality is superb. It looks like it will last a lifetime and when my nephew has grown up, I can see the chest definitely kept as a keepsake box.

We have received the pirate's chest and were surpised to see that it's actually grey - not the "wooden" look in the main image. The second image shows the actual colour. It looks fine - just not as woody as I expected. Seems quite sturdy though. Can't say what my son will think - he won't see it until late December :)

There were no coins or eye patch. I am not sure who packs these things up in the factory (Melissa or Doug) but to leave parts out of a children's toy you must be either: (a) forgetful; (b) evil; or (c) forgetfully evil. There is no point of returning it (as the coins and eye patch are small items and my daughter wants the chest). Anyway, a disgrace. I suggest people avoid products provided my Melissa or Doug in the future (or at least where they are involved somehow).

J'ai beaucoup hésité avant de l'acheter en raison du prix élevé par rapport à d'autres coffres... après moult hésitations, j'ai cliqué sur "Acheter". Absolument aucun regret! j'ai été très surprise de sa qualité, de sa taille et de ses accessoires, qui sont aussi de bonne facture. Le coffre est assez grand- je m'y attendais pas- il est très beau et semble assez solide, en bois avec une fermeture -ouverture originale et qui fait son effet, il est vraiment impressionnant! Les accessoires ne sont pas de petits gadgets +, mais de véritables accessoires, par ex. je m'attendais à un petit bandana, mais il s'agit d'un quasi-drapeau (tissu épais), d'un pavillon noir, que mon fils adore! Le cache-oeil est à scratch, donc adaptable à la taille de la tête, et les pièces d'or (plutôt mat) sont grandes et d'une bonne qualité de plastique, assez rigides, accompagnées de leur sac en velours, c'est parfait! Ce coffre fait le bonheur de mon fils qui y met toute sorte de trésors: billes, pièces, faux diamants etc... Et des petits secrets dans son double fond ....;)

You can always count on Melissa and Doug for a quality product! My 4 year old son LOVED this! It was bigger and better than I expected. I love that you have to turn the pirate skull to open it and the hidden compartment at the bottom was a nice touch. I used it for a treasure hunt and filled it with chocolate coins, play jewelry, and candy. Big hit!
