Q: Is it possible to log GPS data, download and view subsequently on a map such as google maps? How much logged data can be stored?

Route details from a walk are stored in the unit as 'current track'. This data can be downloaded to a computer using the Garmin Base Camp software and the file can then be stored and viewed. I have done this with OS mapping software but not tried it with Google Maps. The only problem that I have encountered with this is that sometimes, if the current track is not reset, the next walk will simply be appended to the existing 'current track'

Q: is it readable in sunlight?

The screen lights up and has a delay to dim the screen. The screen itself isn't antiglare so you may need to shield it from direct sunlight but is certainly readable

it accepts a micro SD card so should be ok as long as it is on that

Q: Does the etrex25 have the sos feature that is on other models?

It displays where you are via marking a waypoint but haven't seen an SOS feature on either the 25 or the 35 versions that I own
