Does the job!
This is a great item and helped me make some really good pipe clamps.First of all I tried for ages to get the thread cutters to ‘bite’ this was solved when I tried the opposite end of the pipe, some end of pipes seem destined not to cut for some reason. Also I really noticed improvement in cutting when lubricating the pipes with oil (in this case olive).Definitely does the job!

Great tool
So easy to use. It did what it was supposed to do with ease.

Can damage pipes
Inconsistent threading for first few attempts. Some threads were damaged but usable. Generally looked ok on the surface but noticed that there was a large taper on threads. This meant that only half the threads met BSPT standards. The rest (diameter) were too big to screw in.When I threaded further it deformed the end of the 3/4 inch pipe. Plenty of cutting grease and slow turning.

Works as expected.

Poor quality
Used this for two 3/4 pipe threads. Second thread very rough, when die inspected found reason. Cutting oil used on both occasions. This item looked very similar to others at over twice the price. Would not buy this brand again.

Does the job (with a little caution)
Two important things to know about using this thread cutter (because there are no instructions included). Firstly, fit it onto the pipe the right way round i.e. the smooth hole goes on the pipe first (with the cutters at the back) - this is because the cutters are wider at the inboard end and need to be to fit over the full diameter of the pipe. Secondly, don't use too much force - you will need to back off after cutting, say, half a turn to snap off the curls of swarf that have built up in front of the cutters. Lubricate with a drop of oil every now and then. Also, you will need an engineer's vice to hold the pipe - clamps won't do!

Very good for the price
Used properly, this thread cutter has worked well for me so far. It is good value for the price. If you know how to use a pipe threader, then it will work well for you also.
