Gives a good base for top coat
I had a fairly nasty coloured wall with lots of minor cracks and imperfections. I ran a smooth coat of filler over each of the cracks first - but knew that in normal circumstances that once painted, they'd show through. I started by coating all the imperfections first - and then generally the whole wall. One tin was just enough to cover the walls in this small double bedroom. I've now got a much better surface to paint my top coat onto. Don't expect it to actively fill cracks - but it will cover any repaired cracks.

improves the finished result
this is an excellent foundation if painting over old oil based or leaded paint as well as gloss finish. Will even mask slight cracks in old plaster work-as long as these are not getting any larger

Helpful, but not a solution for cracked walls...
As long as you have realistic expectations, this product will serve you well! If your wall is quite damaged then of course other action needs to be taken, but if you have a few dents, etc and the colouring is uneven then this will do the job. As others have said, it’s not as thick as perhaps it should be, hence why I don’t think it’s the best for smoothing a wall out, but does give an even base colour for then painting over!

Good for covering dark colours
This isn’t the paint for every job, and if you’re expecting to roll over an imperfect wall and get perfect results you’ll be disappointed. But if you use a medium nap roller it does leave a slightly textured finish that disguises a lot of minor imperfections, and in my experience this does indeed cover hairline cracks well. You can use a foam roller with this stuff, but I don’t think it works nearly as well. One thing I think it does a good job of is blocking out strong/dark colours. It does a better job in one coat than two coats of some white (and not necessarily cheap) emulsions I’ve used in the past. The picture shows one coat of this paint on a very dark blue wall.Yes it does tend to congeal a bit as it dries but it’s not as bad as some have made out. As long as you don’t dawdle it’s fine. But make sure you take any masking tape off as soon as you’re finished in an area because it’s likely to come off in chunks if you leave it too long.I wouldn’t use this as a general purpose base coat for everything, but for specific jobs it’s a good option to have.

Excellent product to cover dark painted walls.
Decorating a bedroom from blue to cream. Worried about blue showing through, so used this as a base coat. Did an excellent job and goes on really well. Cream coloured walls with no blue hue.

Really nice base coat!
Really nice. Bought to cover a bright yellow room that I wanted to repaint. Only needed 1 coat to cover a strong colour & went on really nicely, not too sticky. Provided a great base coat for matt emulsion.

This was great for covering the tiny airline cracks in my old plaster, not good for deep cracks (seperate filler to do them). It gave a great base coat for my finished emulsion job. Would definately use again
