Can be hard work but gives a deep lasting shine
I've tried a variety of different car polishes, and Simoniz Original Carnauba wax is by some measure the most hard work I've had waxing my car. It does give a very high gloss result, and provides excellent and lasting protection, but it sets hard quite quickly, so if you slather it on carelessly over a complete panel, you will have a hard time polishing it to a shine. The best way to use this polish is sparingly and methodically over small areas, one panel at a time. Put too much on, and you will find that you are left with the occasional streak of polish that is surprisingly hard to polish out. I'm not kidding about how much work this stuff is, it really is hard work. Because it's so much effort, I don't use this very often. I use it either because I am really in the mood for some hard work on a nice day while I give my pride and joy some TLC, or I feel I need the extra paint protection this Simoniz wax offers. (For example, I put this on when I go on holiday and will be driving on narrow roads where there is a risk of roadside shrubs coming into contact with my car.) If you want an easier time polishing, then other paste waxes are available, including an excellent one from Turtlewax which is both easier to apply and buff to a shine. The liquid waxes are easier still, with the Autoglym liquid polish being very good. But short of a ceramic coating, I don't think there is a wax that offers the same combination of shine and a tough protection at this price point that this Simoniz wax does. If you want quick and easy results, this stuff will drive you mad. But if you are up for a challenge, this wax is very good and is good value.

Good wax, but requires attention to use.
It seems pretty good as wax, though to apply it, it seems a fair bit more involved than some other brands. The best way i found to use it, was to have 2 microfibre cloths, one for the wax and one for buffing. Wipe some wax on, with one hand and buff off with the other hand. Using this technique, I was able to much more quickly wax the car, and using much less effort. However, it will require more wax buffing cloths, I went through 3 large cloths (due to wax residue that you are wiping off). I have used it a few times, and barely made a dent in the amount of wax, so it is going to last a long time. Though next time, I may spend a bit more, and get one that is easier to use.

The best!
Used this on the car and honestly thought I’d accidentally detailed it for a magazine cover. The shine is ridiculous — like “can’t look directly at it in sunlight” levels. Went on smooth, buffed off easy, and suddenly the paint felt slipperier than my excuses for not washing the car sooner. Water beads off it like the car’s actively rejecting British weather. Dirt doesn’t stick, rain just slides off, and I caught my neighbour squinting at the reflection wondering if I’d bought a new motor. Proper old-school wax that still embarrasses half the modern stuff.

Brilliant, long lasting protection.
Firstly it would be best to start by saying that i have used this product for quite a few years now, so i don't really have any other opinions of supposedly 'more advanced products' or 'new technology' that could be around to make things easier. All i know is how this wax works, and it works perfectly. Wax isn't really designed to shine a car; that would be the job of a polish, which should be applied before waxing. So really when reviewing a wax, it should only be based on how easy it is to use and how long the wax protects your car. I can say from experience that Simoniz original car wax is easy enough to apply. As long as you abide by the rules of the tin then you will be fine. You really should test the item first on a small panel just to get a feel of how much you need to buff, as I've heard people claiming that application is easy, others have said it is near impossible. It all really depends on how much work you think you are prepared to put into protecting your car. Personally i think application is fine; working at a panel at a time and not allowing the wax to dry, i can complete the whole car in around an hour. Whether people think this is a long time is down to personal preference, but i feel that the effort is well worth it. As i said before, you may be able to get waxes that can be applied in minutes, or different materials that say they are superior to a wax, but as i have never tried anything else it would be hard for me to compare. I would say it might possibly be true; after all, technology does improve. But Simoniz original wax is rather inexpensive and i love the results, so i never felt the need to move onto anything else. Car protection from using this product is excellent. I applied my winter coat only a few days ago so it would be unfair to judge in that short space of time. However from the last winter application, the wax lasted around 3-4 months before the visible signs of water protection started to fade. This i consider to be an excellent space of time, as it pretty much protects the car all through winter, then in Spring all you need is another polish, clay bar and wax and you're done again until late summer. I like to look after the cars I've had and I would recommend this product for any motor. It may be hard work for the modern motorist who likes things done fast, but for the best detail, take the time, put in the effort and you will be rewarded.

Great Stuff
After reading the reviews I was a little worried about this stuff. Here is my experience. Outside temp was 23 degrees. The car had been washed, clayed,T-cut and then polished with Autoglym Super resin polish. The wax was applied using a small sponge applicator I bought from Amazon (pack of 24). I tried one small panel at first to see how it would go. I just lightly brushed the pad onto the wax until I could see the sponge slightly discolor. I applied it to the body panel and spread the wax evenly. I kept going in a circular motion loading the pad a few times and spreading out around the panel until it became hard to rub. Now for the hard bit like others had said. I used a microfibre cloth to remove the wax and to my surprise it came of just as easy as the polish did. I bit the bullet and waxed the whole car this time. It took around 40 minutes to apply the wax and was all done the same way. The wax dried to a sort of haze and I used the microfibre cloth again to remove it all. With the exception of a few bits the wax came off easily and only took 20 minutes to remove. I then used a clean microfibre cloth to buff and remove any remaining wax I may have missed just to be sure. Due to the reviews here I thought I had done something wrong but 20 minutes after I finished it rained and I could watch the rain just run off the car. When it stopped there was hardly any droplets left on the car. I must say i am really impressed. It gives better protection and rain repellent that just the polish and just as easy to use. With the amount used and the size of tin I will get many applications out of this and as its supposed to get better over time then thats just a bonus. I must admit that I was not blown away by the difference in shine compared to just the polish, sure there is a slight difference and you can make out which panel has been done and which hasn't but I would not say that it added to it greatly (it was the wifes bright orange car so maybe better for darker ones) so if you are after an effortless and quick "make my car shiny product" then there will probably be better out there, However if you are wanting to protect your car as well as make it look good for a while and don't mind using around an hour to hour and a half then I would say get this.

Moderate shine
Goes on easy with a damp cloth or sponge, easy to buff off but not the best shine I have experienced.

Nice polish.
The tin was badly damaged on delivery , but no detriment to the contents.

An oldie but goodie. Great car wax.
It may be more of an old fashioned style wax and slighty harder to apply than some of the modern coatings (don't let it dry hard beffore buffing it off so best to do small sections at a time) but it is very inexpensive compared to most and with the natural Carnauba gives a great long lasting deep shine. I have used many of the expensive waxes over the years but have returned to this as my standard with just as good results as anything at a fraction of the cost.
