Speedball Super Black India Ink, 2 Ounce (59.1ml)

Excellent ink. No feathering even on cheap absorbent copy paper. As with all India inks, DO NOT USE IN FOUNTAIN PENS, it WILL clog. This ink is made for dip pens. My only complaint would be that due to the nature of this ink and the bottle, the lid can sometimes be very hard to open. It can also leak a lot. So be sure to keep it upright and try not to leave the lid area wet with ink. Can take quite some time to dry. I've found this ink to be very dark, slightly darker than sumi ink.

I'm really new to calligraphy and have only just started in the past few weeks. It was all a bit difficult in the beginning to find the right nibs and the right ink. I have found that some ink I bought was way too runny and would just ruin all my efforts of learning to write with a dip pen. This Speedball ink was actually the fourth black ink I bought and I can honestly say that it's the best of all of them I have tried. If you are just learning I can only recommend it, specifically together with a good nib (for example the Nikko G nibs). Learning calligraphy can be very frustrating at first so getting the ink right the first time is a huge help.

Love it, it has a warmish hue when graded out. Permanent, yes. Bottle as mentioned is flimsy and has no weight, so be wise and empty asap into a sturdier bottle/jar. Always shake, or better yet, stir well before use with a coffee stick or similar, this is after all pure carbon pigment particles suspended in shellac and water; it will settle with prolonged 'un-use'.

This is as described, it does have a frustrating cardboard piece in the lid that falls out and gets ink everywhere. Its a good calligraphy ink that I use for a lot of my calligraphy- I would recommend a thicker paper with this ink as it is more watery than some others, so it needs to go onto something quite stiff. Another important thing is to make sure you clean the rim of the bottle EVERY TIME, because if the ink gets stuck on it the solidifed ink makes it nearly impossible to get open the next time.

Very good waterproof ink. I use it for drawing and have found it flows nicely on the page.

Absolutely amazing ink for copperplate calligraphy. It offers an appropriate amount of viscosity and is thicker than other inks. Very good for dip pens (nibs and glass both)

I bought this ink to use with dip pens. It works very well. It's thick, so quite a bit sticks to the nib and frequent dipping is not needed. The ink wrote consistently in one level of thickness, rather than the lines becoming thin very fast. A wonderful choice for dip pens and quills.

This speedball ink is relatively viscous than the Noodler’s waterproof version. Thus the ink flow is more and look thicker than using Noodler’s (did a test comparison but did not take picture of it). Importantly, it is waterproof as claimed and the thicker line due to relative viscosity does not bother me. PS: the ink is not suitable for fountain pen used. It will clog the fountain pen nib.
