You are better off with a fly swatter
What a complete pile of rubbish, I live in the country and yes we get flies in the house, so instead of relying on my dog and a flypaper, I though this seems like a reasonable way of sorting out the fly problem. Well I guess I was wrong. Turn on this high voltage insect killer (laugh) and you get a pretty blue led light come on, Its works better in low light situations, no, it just doesn't work. It was like the opening day at a nightclub, a blue glow and I am sure the flies were selling tickets to each other to line up and see the light. This caught, in a week of solid operation, a moth, a small moth that got confused and couldn't find the exit. I still had the fly problem and my dog is getting better at catching flies, but have now gone back to the old unsightly flypapers which actually do work. If you are thinking about purchasing this item I would advise don't, invest in flypapers they work.

It kills flies but won't resolve your problem
I've experienced an infestation of fruit flies in my flat and bought this product to help me fighting them.It does kill some flies but it's not so efficient. Only a few were killed.NOW HERE IS A HINT:Take a piece of cotton and damp with a litle bit of vinegar. Place the cotton at the bottom lid, INSIDE of this product. The vingear will attract the flies and will make it far more efficient!!

Better for small rooms
We already have one of these in our garden office which works really well. We used to be plagued with flies and the light fittings would be full of them. Putting one of these in the room and leaving it switched on permanently worked really well and now very few flies, if at all.We bought this one for our kitchen as the flies were getting a problem, especially as the weather got hotter and the windows were open more. This has not worked so well and is catching very few flies, I think it’s because our house is open plan and this works best in a small room where the flies are attracted to it more easily.Still think it’s good value for money and will try placing it in different locations.

Works well, but not for large flies.
I am surprised by some reviewers complaining about the short cable, as this is much longer than the cables on recent small insect killers I have purchased. It's about 2 metres in length. Many complain it doesn't kill large flies. I have yet to buy a small killer that does, and I think for manufacturers to say they kill flies is misleading. It does kill small flies, mosquitoes and moths etc. For large flies a bigger, more powerful unit is required.

I had a shop and the fly catcher worked great could hear the flys crackling
Not impressed with this as not working. I had a shop and the fly catcher worked great could hear the flys crackling, so you can't say I don't know how to use one not that it's hard just plug in away from water and heat and don't lie down. This one I have left on over night get up in morning still two flys flying around in kitchen. I had no windows open so why aren't flys being zapped. Would return if I had kept box a lot of money for something that doesn't work.

pretty pointless
The instructions suggest this item should be hung up, but with the power cable coming out the top (see photo) it makes it pretty impossible as the cable is only about 30 inches long. My sockets are midway on my wall and I would struggle to plug it in hung up so goodness knows how anyone with the sockets lower down are going to manage. Anyhow, I digress. Plugged in the light is so dim the flies just totally ignore it. I have had it on for 2 days and the damn fly I was hoping to catch in it is still buzzing around loving life. As a fly catcher this item is totally useless. To be fair even as a little night light it is pretty pointless as the light is barely there at all. If you want to catch flies, I suggest you give this zapper a miss.
