Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth

A book that everyone should read
This is a very comprehensive book about the story of Israel, from the Roman times up to today. Well written, detailed but easy to read it also adds piece of stories taken from the personal life of the author and her ancestors. It is informative and also a sort of family romance. It also goes on to describe today’s Israeli society, its contradictions, issues and strong points. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Easy to read and understand
Accessible book. Easy to follow. Such a shame that a book like this that explains important issues is only available to those who can/willing to pay for it

The truth about Israel.
As the scurrilous output of anti-Israel propaganda reaches new heights, here is a book which serves as an antidote."Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth" by Noa Tishby, is both a personal account and a history. It tells the story of the Zionist movement and the creation and survival of Israel in straightforward but accurate terms, interwoven with the authors own experiences and stories of her family history which cover the same period. Tishby points out that far from being a colonial enterprise, Israel is a country created by refugees who had nowhere else to go.The book is written in a refreshing colloquial style, at times amusing and always interesting.Tishby deals extensively with the attempts by the Arab world to destroy Israel by force of arms, and now by incessant propaganda and attempts to delegitimize the Jewish State. The latest manifestation of this, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) attacks are merely a front for the continued intention to destroy the Jewish State. As long as there are Jews and Israelis like Noa Tishby there is no doubt that Israel will survive. The book is available from Amazon in Hardcover, Kindle and Audiobook editions.

Worth reading but a bit biased
Like a lot of historical books on this subject written by Israelis it is a bit biased. To sum up: "The Arabs declared war on our newly formed Israel state in 1948, we won, you lost, get over it". It's a bit more complicated than that.

Brilliant book, explains it all clearly
Very well written book that I found both very informative and enjoyable to read. Not a heavy boring book on history at all. Some nice personal stories too. Well worth reading if you would like to know more about Israel and the conflict with the Arabs/Palestinians, from an unbiased view. If you would like to know the truth, not the distortions that are so common on social media, then read this book and you'll be an expert!

Brilliant book all sceptics of Israel's right to be where it is should read this book
Wow! From the very first page I was captivated by Noa's writing about a country I have been fascinated by for years. She quotes biblical information and historical fact in a lighthearted way that interests rather than bores me. Let's face it those two subjects to most people, can be a bit of a hard slog!! Since our Pastor visited Israel and came back and told us about the places he visited and linked them into the bible suddenly instead of being a book about life a few thousand years ago, the bible took on a reality and became a very interesting insight into Israel. Now along comes Noa and links the bible again with history, let's face it, every day in our life becomes tomorrow's history, but with humour and knowledge she brings Israel and its life (AND the devious British part in the creation of conflict in the Middle East which we are still suffering with today) to the fore. Now not everyone will agree with me but I say give this book a go. I love it. Well worth the cost.

Historically accurate, a must read!
I have always been interested in and have researched the history of Israel from ancient times on. This book, though it does not go all the way back in history, is a go-to for information that is accurate on the situation in the Middle East.
