Fabulous quality
This a serious piece of kit. Really well made. Solid but not overly heavy. After a short time our Dobermann was going up and down without issue. We use it mainly for her to get in and out the house.

Great product
I got this ramp because my dog strained some muscles in his back and could no longer jump in and out of the car. Fully extended, it provides a gentle slope up to a 4x4, so is ideal for old or injured dogs. Though light, it's sturdy enough to easily sustain my 150lb Great Dane, and looks like it'll last. The walking surface is the texture of course sandpaper which provides a good non-slip grip, though I haven't yet tried it in the rain. It folds up neatly and is easy to carry/stash. The dog worked out how to use it in a few minutes.NB: V quick delivery - the product arrived two days after I ordered it.

Great ramp but quite big!
The solvit ramp has lots of positives and a couple of negatives but overall it is a very good ramp and so much better than the plastic folding ramp we had previously. First the positives: It's sturdy, strong and doesn't wobble. It's not too heavy (for me a 40yr old shortish woman) and the telescopic action is smooth. The non slip, sandpaper like coating makes it easy for our Labrador to get a good grip (unlike the plastic model) and it is long enough when fully extended so that the ramp is not too steep for her to get into our car (a Nissan Qashquai). She seems much happier to use it and unlike the slippier plastic ramp, doesn't have to do a run up to get up it!Now the negatives... It's telescopic, so only retracts to half its length (rather than folding) so it is quite long and does take up quite a bit of space. With the dog and dog bed in the boot, there's really not enough space for the ramp to go in there as well (unless I put the single back seat down so I can lay it flat) and this is in an SUV with a decent size boot. In theory I could put it on the back seat (not great once it's muddy) or work out a way to stand it up across the back of the car but I'd need to secure it or it would fall on the dog. The second negative is not a deal breaker but could be improved. The the design is not very intuitive when it comes to extending it as the bit you naturally grab onto is the section that doesn't pull out. Everytime I go to pull it out I have to do an awkward shuffle to move my hands into the right position whilst yelling at the dog not to jump out.In summary, an excellent quality, strong and stable (Teresa May?) ramp but just be aware it is quite big. Maybe check the unextended measurements first.

Fantastic dog ramp!
This ramp is amazing! I researched a lot before selecting the Solvit ramp and am delighted with the product. Easy to carry one handed. My gigantic 5 month old German Shepherd puppy gets in and out of my Mitsubishi Shogun, as does our 11 month old labrador who has just been diagnosed with elbow displasia.I am under 5ft tall and there is no way I could lift those two great big lumps in and out of the car several times a day!The ramp unfolds so easily, it just slides open. There is a useful clip to hold it in place, but to be honest I don't find the need to use this. The manufacturers recommend placing it on the back of the car and opening it out, but I have found it easier to hold it upright in the middle and let it slide open, then place it on the back of the car. It fits slid into the boot at the side of a Mitsubishi, being held nicely in place by the wings of the rear passenger seat and then held in place by the seatbelts at the very back.As suggested, the dogs spent a couple of minutes walking on it flat on the ground, then I raised it on to a step or two into my house, then placed it higher into the car and neither of them were at all phased by the process. Now it is second nature for them. I would say this ramp is the best thing I have bought for my dogs, I cannot fault the product in any way. WELL DONE SOLVIT!

Great for even weak hands 10/10
The media could not be loaded. My dog is very nervous but it only took me 2mins on the house floor getting him to walk over it and then 3mins slowly outside on the car encouraging him with best treats. Sturdy and lightweight. No paws slipping either.Shame I have to put partial back car seat down as 10cms too long to store length ways. Protect bumper if coloured , as I did. 👍5*

Well made and light
Ramp arrived on time and is as described. The problem comes when trying to manhandle the ramp in and out of the car whilst holding a "bouncy" wet Labrador on the lead. You'll also need to think where your going to put it once your boot is filled up with a damp dog.In conclusion there is nothing wrong with the ramp, the problem is the implementation. We have reverted to using a box to act as a step which we can handle more easily.

Strong, sturdy ramp
Bought this ramp because the last ramp I bought snapped although technically it should have taken my dog's weight. This is very different - a sturdy ramp which takes the weight of my 60kg Leonberger without any flex or bending which has given him great confidence when using it. The surface is a bit like an emery board so there's no slipping at all. It's reasonably heavy for a woman to manoever around but very doable and the handle helps a lot. I like the fact it extends out quite a long way so the gradient is never too steep. We practised with the dog walking on it on the floor at first with a treat at the end and there was no problem when transferring to the car. Highly recommend for large dogs.
