Rixen & Kaul Unidisc Chainguard - Black

The chainguard arrived from Germany before the initial forecast delivery date. Very clear instructions and two different centre adaptors to aid fitting. In all it took me less than five minutes to fit and most of that time was removing the existing cap over the spindle bolt. The new guard fitted well and the front chainwheel gear mechanism has good clearance. The finished appearance is very smart and what's more it does the job of keeping my trousers clear of the chainwheel. Two sets of trouser clips will shortly be up for "best offer".

Fitting was easy. However I have a 48t chain ring and this is about the same size. Adding in the adapter for mounting and it sits a good 1-1.25cm away from the chain ring, which is actually quite far. It helps to push my trouser away from the chain, but isn't 100% at this, so I still occasionally get stains on the cuff of my trousers. Would do much better if there was a slightly shorter adapter in the kit.

Fits on both of my bikes, a hybrid and fixie. The connecting bolts on the bike for the crank have a plastic dust cap which comes of. With the bolt back in you can screw the addapter cap on. Comes with two at differnt lentghs. The gaurd screws on top with a small screw. Dosent fit flush witch might be the thread on my crank arm. At £15 its on the expensive side but I couldn't find a similar one that would fit.

I bought this to replace a different chainguard I purchased earlier, which could not be fixed very rigidly, as well as not being correctly specified as to size on the Amazon page. With this one you simply screw one of the provided adaptors into the pedal crank and attach the guard to it with the screw provided.

Not as universal as supposed and claimed to be. Neither of the adapter sockets attached to the crank centre in a way that it stands at all, no matter what I tried. Mountain bike otherwise matching the chainset and "universal chainguard" description.Practically useless for my needs (and many other bicycles probably), at the same time twice to trice more expensive than similar offerings. Disappointed.

Ich habe heute den Universalkettenschutz erhalten und gleich eingebaut.Der Einbau war sehr einfach, es wird nur der Gewindeschutz der Kurbelgarnitur ausgeschraubt und einer der mitgelieferten Einsätze eingebaut.Auf diesen wird mit einer mitgelieferten Schraube der Kettenschutz befestigt.Alle Teile ( außer der Schraube ) bestehen aus einem sehr stabilen und hochwertigen Kunststoff.Es passt alles perfekt, obwohl es sich um eine Biopace Kettenradsatz handelt.

Das Ding passt tatsächlich bei alten Shimano Deore XT Kettenblättern/ Tretkurbeln. Dafür habe ich sonst noch keine Lösung gefunden. Der Schutz steht dann zwar ca. 1,5cm von der Kette ab, was irgendwie nicht so elegant ist, aber es erfüllt den Zweck. Montage ist total einfach, da man einfach erst einen Adapter in das Innengewinde der Tretkurbel schraubt und dann den Schutz mit einer weiteren Schraube fixiert. Es sind zwei Adapter für verschieden weite Kettenblatt Abstände dabei. Die Verarbeitung ist nicht super, aber letztlich verrichten zwei solche Teile bei mir seit Jahren ihren Dienst.
