Great book to show family diversity.
Our 22 month old loved this book and often asks for it. Great for families underrepresented in most mainstream books and would be a great addition to any preschool or infant/junior school so the kids can learn about different kinds of family. Whether you are from a single parent family, a single sex family, a multiracial family, adopted family, big or small family etc there is some kind of representation. It also has themes such as types of work, types of home, types of food people eat, and schooling, feelings etc. Basically it highlights that most people do not fit in to the stereotypical family image and that each family is unique and equally valid. Even if your family is very traditional this is a great book to teach your child about other people with other kinds of families. Bringing understanding.

Super book!
Really nice book. Not too much of a story to read, but so many lovely illustrations leading to interesting conversations with my little one. Definitely worth a purchase! And it will age well as she's only 3 now, and some of the concepts are beyond her understanding just yet.

I can't recommend this book enough. Lovely book.
Really nice book to read over with children. A lovely layout, wonderfully illustrated and simple language make this book a useful tool for introducing children to today's varieties of families. I'd suggest this book is also a useful tool for beginning a conversation about 'absent' parents and parents in prison. An easy 5 stars for me.PLEASE NOTE; THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION STATES THIS BOOK TALKS ABOUT MIXED RACE FAMILIES, DISABILITIES IN FAMILIES AND HAVING A PARENT IN PRISON. IT DOESN'T CONTAIN THIS INFORMATION. THE UPDATED EDITION DOESN'T CONTAIN THIS INFORMATION EITHER.

Fantastic book!
Fantastic book!! My four year old daughter wants to read it every night since we bought it for her at Christmas. I wish this type of book had been around when I was younger. It will help my children to better understand the world, become accepting of differences and see the world through the eyes of others. I cannot recommend it enough. I hope the author keeps writing! We also have The Big Book of Feelings (by the same author) which both my daughter and I also love.

Why the Fuss?
This is a nice, well written book about families. Nothing “objectionable” that I could see (and I’m am old fashioned 73 year old lady). Buy this book & share it with your kids & grandkids. They will enjoy the colorful pictures and simple story.

Absolutely beautiful book, WORTH the money.
I love everything about this book. I thought it was only going to be about members of a family and different orientations but no, it was so much more than that! It talked about homes(building), vacations, holidays, pets and more fun little details about people and how they differ from families! It’s quite long and my 2yo gets bored but I am ecstatic to have this for when he’s older and can ask questions!

Beautifully Illustrated Book!!
It's literally the 'Great big book of Families', It has everything that you need to teach a preschooler as far as society is concerned and very well helps them understand everything and everyone is not the same. Helps kids broaden their mindset and accept the differences. Especially came in hand during and post covid as kids don't get to socialize as usual!
