I've used a Vodafone SIM many times when traveling to the UK. It always works great and is a great value. You can also top it up if necessary. You receive a new phone number with it which is good for use in that country. When there, I continue to use WhatsApp for contacting people back in USA. I believe the Vodaphone SIM is cheaper than switching on an international plan with your current cell phone service. Delighted to find that I can buy this from Amazon here in the USA, set it up for the correct start date and know my new UK phone number before leaving the US. I used to wait until I was in the UK as they're available in the airports too. Now I can simply change out the SIM in my phone during the flight.

This worked great! I gave it four rather than five stars because there is no way to activate it prior to arrival (so made me very nervous), but it worked fine once I arrived in the UK. Another positive: I emailed the support folks re activating early; they responded quickly (though the answer was no). I emailed again and asked if I could insert the sim card ahead of time (I have a separate travel phone); they responded again, saying I could do that without a problem. That proved correct.

We bought these for a trip to the UK. They were easy to install and started providing data access right away but we couldn't text or call. The support said they might take a day or two to start working over a weekend or holiday so we waited a couple of days but they never allowed us to text or call. We always had data access so we could use maps or the internet or an IP based message service but normal texting never worked. We sent multiple messages to their technical support and all were ignored.

Use an unlocked phone. Activated as directed. Turned unlock phone off. Change out Sim. Turn phone upon landing in UK From US. Voila, easy peasy.

Everything seems to be in its place and all the instructions seem straightforward.

Vodaphone's wireless service was excellent. But the Taiwan call center for this product was not helpful. I had difficulty understanding the operators. They referred my questions to more senior people, who did not follow up in a way that was useful to me.

Didn't work. Couldn't get it to work. I just ended up buying a SIM from some hole in the wall place that had more data + minutes and still cost less. Don't waste your time on it.

I got 2 of these SIM cards for me and my kid for a trip to the UK. I bought the SIMs through Amazon Canada. They arrived the next day and were simple to set up. All the info you need to activate the SIMs from Canada so they’re ready to go when you land is on the package. Including the UK phone number! Before landing I popped the SIM cards in and they worked immediately. The only issues I had were a lack of service in areas of the country where there’s limited coverage anyway. So not the fault of the SIM card! I never had to enter my credit card info or create an account for the SIMs to work, so that was a bonus. I’ll buy these again if I need to.

I filled in the activation form one week before our trip and the phone number was supposed to be emailed one day prior to the activation date, but with all the trip organizing, I missed that we did not receive the phone number. When in Scotland I inserted the Sim, but was unable to make a call. This is when I realized I did not receive the number. After 2 long discussions with reps who were useless and 3 attempts to resolve through their Chat line, I gave up and went to a local store and bought a Sim. I should have seen a red flag with the process ie sending the number one day prior to activation, as I have purchased multiple travel sim cards and the number is always given on purchase. If I could give a zero rating I would, as it was a waste of money and vacation time!

The only problem I had was in getting my phone's sim to release. Once that was achieved, everything went as it should with no problems at all. Prior to my arrival in the UK the sim's company contacted me to give me support if I needed it. Fantastic customer service that I didn't need but I was very glad was there. I used the Sim in the UK (home is Canada) and recommend it highly.

This was phenomenal. This is the first time I have bought a SIM card for another country. I had complete use of my phone, including a UK phone number. I had plenty of good data to look up directions to anything I needed. I definitely will buy one for future trips. The last European trip I took, I spent $100 just rebooking a flight. What can I say, I don't get out much. :)
