Action packed.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's vintage Bond with a fresh coat of paint.I have read all of Ian Flemings Bond books and find John Garners Goldeneye to be just as entertaining, in fact, probably more entertaining. There is an unexpected twist. The chases are just as improbable, yet even more spectacular. The villainess is even deadlier than usual, and both her and the good girl are sexier than ever.I will be reading the rest of the Bond books by John Gardner. If you're a Bond fan I really can recommend Goldeneye.

006 out of 10.
Well it's a book version of the film and not much else. I was hoping that the book would develop the relationship between 007 and 006 but it doesn't really. It simply plods along from one scene from the film to the next. The changes are minimal but are quite striking when they do occur, as for the most part the book seems to be terrified of straying from the exact frames of the film. The minor changes that are present appear to be changes for the sake of changes and are almost annoying, examples include Xenia's Ferrari being yellow instead of red, and having Bond amend the timer from three minutes to one, as opposed to from six minutes to three like in the film. Why?The sex scenes felt a bit overindulgent and out of place. I'd have preferred a text version of the camera panning towards the ceiling tastefully and then transitioning into a new scene. Instead we are treated to a description of a sweaty Bond entering and thrusting into Natalya while clenching her buttocks in a passionate rage. However I did enjoy it as a sort of synopsis of the film.

Good read
Good book, great tie in. Some extra material that bulks out some of the bits you don’t see in the film. Only a few of John Gardner’s books in, having read license renewed. Very much like the continuation of bond. Read in a weekend.

Great read
Expands and elaborates on the storyline from THE BEST BOND FILM EVER MADE. Really nicely put together, will be reading more Gardner after this, he really knows what he's talking about.Only criticism, he deviates from the dialogue in the Goldeneye script, which was a little annoying coming to the book as a huge fan of the film. I got over it though, this book is great.

007 well done by the writer, and has a place in the Bond series for both the curious and the completest...
Well enough done because Gardner did several 007 returns years ago and still has what a well skilled writer like him should have. He does. This reads with a movie tie-in pace that one expects, but is necessary to maintain its part in the 007 canon.

Solid movie adaptation
Great adaptation of the movie with enough extra detail and back story to make it interesting. I always liked Gardner's Bond.

Goldeneye by John Gardner
One of the much lesser known Bond Novels by the third James Bond author. Well told as Garner does and glad to get a copy for my collection. Recommend for those wanting a complete collection.

This was an excellent novelization, though there were some startling differences from the movie cut we get to see. Still, an excellent buy!

GOLDENEYE
AFTER A. FEW PAGES INTO THE BOOK I WAS TAKEN BACK A DECADE PLUS YEARS SITTING IN A MOVIE THEATER WATCHING A MOVIE BY THE SAME NAME AS THE BOOK I WAS READING. ALL THE EXCITEMENT AND ADVENTURE. THE SAME VILLAINS, THE SUPER HELICOPTER. THE SAME SATILITES. THE SAME HEROINE. JOHN GARDNER BROUGHT THE MOVIE BACK TO ME WITH THE SAME WORDS USING MY MIND AS THE MOVIE SCREEN. IF YOU LIKE THE BOND MOVIES THEN THIS BOOK IS A MUST!

Better than the film.

The movie is actually better than the book.
This book just sounds like a silly transcript of the movie. It doesn't add anything to it like I expected.
