The best scan tool available for the price.
I have been a motor technician for 35 years & use various diagnostic scan tools daily at work, I bought the XTOOL InPlus IP616 Scan Tool for home use. The reasons for choosing the XTOOL InPlus IP616 Scan Tool were the price, free lifetime updates & the amount of functions provided. After receiving the scan tool I found the feel of the tool & materials used to be of good quality (equal quality to the high end tools I use daily in the motor trade). After charging the tool & switching on the initial set up was very easy including updating, the user interface is simple to use for experienced users or beginners, the scan tool has good processing power & runs quickly, it has more than enough functions for most users & works very well. The scan tool does not have Bi-directional ability's but most people will not need this function, I very rarely use this function at work & then only to activate EGR valves, cooling fans, windows or central locking, if you have a power probe & the know how this can be done without diagnostic equipment. The scan tool has a cable connection for the diagnostic socket on the vehicle rather than a Bluetooth one which I prefer as it is more reliable & safer to use. From now on Xtool is going to be my go-to brand as the tools are very good value, good quality & the customer service is excellent, customer support sent me an email after I received the tool just to check if I was happy with the product & if there was anything else they could help me, I found if you contact them you get a very fast reply with straight answers. I am very pleased & more than happy with my purchase.

This might just be the perfect home mechanic scan tool for most people...
XTool IP508 If you’re reading this, you’re looking at the reviews (currently only the one!) wondering if the XTool IP508 is any good, and whether you should buy one. It’s hard to decide if something is good or not in isolation, so most people find it easier to have something to compare it against. In which case, it might help the reader to know that I already own XTools (3x more expensive) D7, which I bought last year on the back of reviews on YouTube. I was attracted to the D7 by fact that it could replace a drawerful of marque specific scan tools which I used to use to maintain my extended family’s array of cars. The D7 is great, I’m still delighted with it, but then I saw that XTool had introduced a new simplified tool for a lot less money. For the purposes of this review, I’m going to describe my new IP508 in the context of the D7. I had two cars to look at immediately – my father’s old Jaguar S-type and my wife’s diesel Focus. The Jag is a very old car, and I wasn’t sure what would be available, but the IP508 easily read the fault codes, cleared the applicable ones (he’s fond of letting the car’s battery go flat …), and could easily show live data. I’ve not broken out the stopwatch, but the IP508 feels pretty much as quick to use, and as responsive as the D7. The IP508 has a reduced set of functions, however, much as you would expect for the price difference. So, next job was to find out what the 2009 Focus had to say for itself. Checking the fault codes, there indicated a wiring problem with the indicator where someone had recently replaced a bulb, so the same level of fault code logging as was shown by the D7 is available on the IP508. For both cars, I was able to perform live data logging – the sort you’d use to diagnose an intermittent fault on an ABS sensor, for example, or check the fuel rail pressure in real time. So which to buy? The D7 is better, it has a significantly greater number of functions which would be very helpful for an advanced home mechanic, or a workshop, which would save them time and effort, and enable them to perform advanced calibration of blind spot monitoring etc. However, it should be noted that most of these extras are going to need a more controlled environment, and extra equipment, than most can manage on a driveway. For most normal users, I’d say XTool have judged the needs of their customers with pinpoint accuracy, and the IP508 is very good value. To come back to the original questions – is the IP508 any good and should you buy one? The answers are a resounding ‘Yes’. The functionality for the price is very good, and the free updates are very welcome, particularly if you have a newer car for which manufacturer support is still evolving.

THIS XTOOL INPLUS IP508 IS SUPREME, EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, IS SUPER.
This Xtool InPlus IP508 is a four-system of the engine, transmission, SRS, and ABS diagnostic tool with six reset functions that I will summarily mention below. ABS Bleeding: this function bleeds air out from the ABS pump to restore the braking system. Oil Reset: a function that resets the oil service (mile/km) counter to zero after an oil change. Throttle Relearn: this is when you have to re-learn the throttle sensor position after cleaning or repairing the electronic throttle. EPB Reset: this function resets the brake calipers, brake discs, or pads after the electronic parking brake system is repaired or replaced. BMS Reset: this function resets the monitoring unit of the car battery after a change of battery. SAS Calibration: this is when you have to erase the fault in the steering angle sensor memories and make calibration for the Steering Angle Sensor. All the above, I have tested on different vehicles and I can not fault this tool as a mechanic. I have been using the Autel and Ancel brands of diagnostic tools for many years until I decided to start buying other makes and then, I came about this XTOOL brand and decided to start off with this particular model of IP508, just to see what their system offers. I purchased this product, the IP508 in April and did not want to write a review of this product until now, at least to be sure after comparing its capabilities against my other diagnostic tools of the same range and I can say that this IP508 is way above the rest and it is now my everyday tool. I had to also purchase the IP608, another more advanced model of this brand to compare the modules and this product did not disappoint. I have carefully and comprehensively tested all the advertised functions of this product on many vehicles and I have to commend this manufacturer. And then, with the lifetime updates, two years warranty on a product that is solidly built with a very fast Android 10, I am satisfied.

Very goof for diy !!!
It’s good device for diy use ! I am still learning ! A lot of functions to reset or to do some coding! I have this device for a couple months and I like it! So far I find only one downside- it’s connect with a car with a wire! But rest is good! It’s do the job - read's errors, resets faults, you can take video or photos and email them ! Save fault reports and email them if necessary! Easy to connect to the phone if you’re not using WiFi! If you’re not professional car mechanic then for you this device will be more than enough !!!

Disappointing
Bought this for my Audi A5 2007, and it won’t connect at all, so can’t read any codes . Going through the vehicle Manual search the oldest A5 is 2008 , so maybe mine is too old ? Although my cheaper scanner reads it ok , I also have a Ford transit connect 2017, and it only does basic functions ☹️ won’t do a regen . A lot of features not supported . So am disappointed with this and will be sending back , I have a thinkdiag which does far more and is only £100.

Large range of functionality and good compatability
The XTOOL IP508S is a good quality OBD2 scanner. It can do four different system diagnostic tests, nine hot reset services it has ten OBD2 Mode Tests and comes with free software updates for life. The device features a 2950mAh battery for long battery life and a 5" touch screen for simple and easy control. It reads and erases error codes, has Auto VIN functionality and can show ECU information. The data graphing mode is especially handy and it covers over 10,000 vehicles and models. It also features multi-language support which is great if you have mechanics from other countries. Price point is very fair and reasonable and overall it's an excellent product.

Excellent Very Highly Recommend
When this was delivered I wasn't expecting the weight of the device, it is a solid bit of kit. Once opened I started to do the updates 3hrs later and they were still going even on fibre, that's how many cars you can do with this bit of kit. Once done I couldn't wait to use it on my wife's car, a Fiat Panda, I was well pleased, it found 2 codes relating to the gearbox, local garage couldn't find them on there XTool A30. This has already helped me safe some valuable time. Since then I have done several cars many Fiat cars as the local garages struggle with them. It has an excellent 7" screen which is really clear, the auto scan didn't find my wife's car but did my son's. I was then able to send a report via email, other well known app's can't do this. The cable's are also of high quality, this also comes in a hard plastic case to protect it when not in use. The device charges really quickly which is needed in our busy life's. I had another well known make before this one which stopped working in less than 2 days, they say you get what you pay for. The price is well worth it and will pay for itself very quickly. I wasted time buying other cheaper makes and regret it now, don't waste your time as I did.

Basic, good for scanning and live data capture that's about it.
Where do I start, I purchased this xtool to see if this tablet could do what my laptop and old x431 does but I think I had bad luck or I was just meant to order a replacement x431 tablet instead. I had a poor unit and I think that's all it is in my case, it's charging intermittently on usb, only really charging from dead when I plug it into the obd port of a car, the interface is glitchy and it's having trouble doing anything due to poor internet regardless what network I try it on, as for clearing faults the juke I tested it on showed fault but wouldn't fully erase them but mymold scanner did. the reports don't email out. Long story short if your looking for the next best replacement try the next model or the d7, this is great as your apprentices first diagnostics machine and for any people but that's about it. I will be probably returning this unit and when xtool have another sale on the next model up I will order that to review.
