Used after chalk painting some cupboards. It gave a nice finish/seal and I am very pleased with the result.

First time using Rust Oleum products and I am pleased with the results, although I feel that the greater the experience you develop using them the better the results would become. Like other things in life, the more care and effort you put in the more you will get out. I was rather wary regarding the wax as there were several references in the feedback to the strong, nauseus, smell. I had no issues with any unpleaseant smell, and there is no warning on the tin to use in a well ventilated space or wear a mask if you suffer from breathing issues etc which I would have expected if that was a likely side effect. There is a large warning regarding Naptha and its effects as "it contains Naptha", but without any accompanying data as to the percentage or indeed a mention of any other ingredients I assume the wax must be generally considered as a safe product. There is also feedback about a streaky finish. I did see signs of this. I was applying the wax over Dusty Pink, a relatively pale colour and after one coat the wax did look rather patchy. However a second coat made a distinct improvement yielding a much deeper and richer hue. The finish was not a totally even sheen, but I think in part is the nature of the combination of the chalky paint and the wax. As regards the consistency of the wax I would agree with others that it is similar to shoe wax, possible slightly softer. the main difference is that the wax is much "oilier" and so spreads much more easilly and can be worked in and buffed with a cloth. I suspect the ease of spreadability is dependent on the air temperature. I applied it with ambient temperatures of twenty degrees plus. I imagine on a cold winters day it could be a very different story. Putting more effort into working the wax into the surface of the paint also pays dividends. I used plain, lint free cotton scraps purchased as a large boxful from CPC at a very good price and have lasted a considerable time. You can rub the wax in and use a second cloth to buff the final result. There was some lifting of the colour, but nothing that caused a problem. Personally I do not see how using a brush could be anything like as effective. Overall a good final result, but a bit more hard work on my part and I believe it would have been better still.

This is my second pot to be purchased. I am very impressed with the quality. You need to have it at room temperature and then it goes on to the furniture easily. Leave for 10 minutes and then it buffs up lovely. It leaves a little bit of a shine and you can really feel the difference after applying as the wood is much smoother & protected. I bought it as an alternative to the Annie Sloan as I had a lot to shabby chic. I used the same brand chalk paint and am happy with the results. I would 100% recommend. The wax does have an odour when applying, I used a fan whilst working and the odour was gone within 30 minutes. The wax does go a long way. If you want an extra shine just repeat the proces after buffing the first time.
