Been using Bulk Powders for years. So I can say with certainty that the flavour they're peddling nowadays is not only different but rancid. I have tried chocolate orange and put it down to poor flavour choice. This time, however with vanilla, the same sickly and overly sweet (not in a good way) taste is present. I don't know the reason for the change but I'm sure it has something to do with cost. Shame as bulk powders used to be proper quality. Optimum Nutrition is much better.

I was not a huge fan of this protein powder. I ordered the Vanilla flavour and found it to be far too sweet and sickly. I appreciate that no protein powder is ever going to taste AMAZING, however it seemed like there was far too much artificial sweetener in this product for my liking. Ended up having to hold my nose and chug it as best as I could to get it down. The results? The protein powder did seem to have an effect on muscle gain after exercise, however it was not worth the torment of having to drink a vile tasting product. Would not buy again.

Received well on time, even with standard delivery. Have used it for 2-3 days so far, first impressions are that it mixes well in a standard 'shaker'. I have the Vanilla flavour and it seems very sweet to me (I only had chocolate before (different brand) - so no 'vanilla comparison'). No feedback on effectiveness yet...guess I need to give it time to do it;s magic!! <Edit> I had a mild reaction well... made my lips feel 'fizzy' and I felt bloated. I persevered for about a week before calling it a bad buy, reduced to 1 star. Gave it away, but 'warned' the recipient to only try one first and see whether there is any reaction. Also, the sweetness seems to get worse over time. Got to the point where it was like taking medicine after a workout (or mid-afternoon)

My experience with BULK's Vanilla Flavor Protein was quite disappointing. The flavour was a major letdown as it was not only weak but also had an unpleasant, artificial aftertaste that made it difficult to drink beyond a couple of sips. Another issue I faced was the poor mixability; it frequently formed clumps, making it a hassle to prepare a smooth shake. To salvage it, I tried mixing it with various fruits and ingredients, which improved the taste somewhat, but the fact that it required so much modification was disappointing. In the end, I ended up giving it to a friend who found it alright, this could show that taste preferences can vary significantly. However, based on my personal experience, I wouldn't recommend it as a standalone protein option.

Having used a fair number of protein brands out there over the years and struggling to find one that is affordable, tastes nice (or even ok), and mixes well, I am pleased to find that bulk powders satisfies all three of these criteria. It, especially the larger bag here (I ordered 2.5kg), represents excellent value for money for what is a decent and high quality product that will last me a fair amount of time. I’ve broken down my review into various aspects below. The powder arrived swiftly after ordering, securely packaged, and in excellent, undamaged condition. Taste Ok, so a load of protein powders I have had in the past taste absolutely awful. Bulk Powders, as any protein powder, won’t be winning any culinary awards but does, in my mind, taste far and away better than a lot of what’s out there. Over the years I have tried vanilla, chocolate, chocolate cookies, raspberry, and strawberry. All of them are great and very drinkable with just the right amount of flavour and sweetness. Ordinarily, vanilla and strawberry are my favourites, and I find they all taste (much!) better when mixed with milk. With water they’re ok but are much more ‘thin’ and lacking in a bit of depth of flavour in my opinion. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry all mix well into smoothies too and complement, rather than overpower, other ingredients. I like to make a coffee/protein shake in the morning and mix in some espresso shots with a vanilla shake. The vanilla especially is useful in baking and other less traditional uses for protein powder and blends well into recipes. Texture I usually shake mine up with milk, which with a little shaking produces a relatively smooth and palatable drink without lumps and, importantly, is not gritty. It is almost an in between of a protein shake and a milkshake. I’m less of a fan with water, but for me that holds true whatever protein powder I am using. It’s more thin and I prefer the thicker and creamier texture of when it is mixed with milk. However, mixed with water still produces a perfectly fine shake that is not, unlike many other brands, lumpy and gritty. I typically mix with water when taking it to the gym with me as I don’t want to have milk in my bag and am not disappointed with the results. Quality Bulk Powders protein powder are high quality in terms of nutritional profile. Even though it’s much cheaper, it stands up against more established premium (read: expensive) brands. I’ve had no issues with using this and it’s a fantastic dietary supplement. Storage and measurement Unlike many brands out there that come in bulky tubs, Bulk Powders come in a durable plastic bag with a resealable (zip-lock style) top. The material the bag is made of makes it as sturdy as any tub and I have never had any issues of them breaking or tearing or any other issues. It’s easier to store as it’s much more flexible and has a bit of give to it where solid plastic would not. The only issue I do have sometimes is being able to reseal it successfully. This isn’t usually a problem, and the seal is very useful in maintaining the integrity of the product over time by keeping out air and moisture, but is a little frustrating and fiddly at times. That said, I struggle with most seals of this kind and my issues here are likely a product of that as opposed to this particular bag. A powder scoop, measuring one serving of powder, that comes with the bag is absolutely wonderful. It’s easy to use and to accurately measure your servings without having to faff around with spoons and scales. It’s made of a durable plastic and is a really handy addition to the powder. Value for money Bulk Powders are definitely one of the most affordable producers of protein powder out there. They are consistently one of the cheapest brands out there and you can save a great deal of money when purchasing from them, especially if you buy in (as their name punnily suggests) bulk. Even though it’s cheap and excellent value for money, it does not compromise on quality, making it a sure bet if you want to add some protein to your diet. Summary In summary, this protein powder from Bulk Powders is high quality, excellent value for money and, in my opinion, consistently of a much better taste and texture than other brands out there. It stores well and lasts a long time and is housed in a convenient and high quality bag with a really useful scoop added. Having used this brand for years (for many different flavours as well as their creatine supplement, which is also excellent by the way) I am confident in giving this a wholehearted five stars and a high recommendation. If you’re going to get yourself some protein powder, you’d do well considering Bulk Powders. Mixes smoothly and tastes good for a vanilla whey protein. Easy to use daily and low in sugar. Feels like a solid option for muscle recovery and general supplementation.

Product tastes and smells good. Given price point it is good value. On other hand the bag looked dirty and corner had a tear big enough to slightly unseal the bag. Since there was no spillage, and inside zip lock held powder intact in a bag I decided to use it. The heat seal part was somehow in an angle rather than straight. Since this came with one day delivery there was minimal handling, so it must be all the damage already comes from manufacturer.

Bad taste and hard to dissolve... Don't buy it.

Très bonne whey protéine, la saveur vanille est douce et pas écœurante. Elle se mélange facilement, même avec simplement de l’eau, sans faire de grumeaux. Bonne digestion de mon côté, pas de ballonnements. Je l’utilise après l’entraînement et la récupération est au rendez-vous. Le rapport qualité/prix est intéressant pour la quantité proposée. Convient aussi bien en shaker qu’en smoothie ou dans un porridge. Je recommande.

Ich habe schon sehr sehr viele Sorten und Marken von Proteinpulver probiert - der hier ist mit sehr großem Abstand der Gewinner. Den fertigen Drink kann man einfach wie einen Milchdrink aus dem Supermarkt trinken. Ich bin mir sogar sicher, dass viele den Unterschied nicht herausschmecken würden. Es gibt keinen sonderbaren Beigeschmack, wie so oft bei Proteinpulver. Wie bulk das Ergebnis herbeiführt, obwohl der Proteingehalt so hoch ist, verstehe ich kaum. Bei manchen anderen Marken sollte man dem Pulver Milch beimischen, da der Drink ansonsten zu wässrig schmeckt. Das ist hier aber nicht der Fall. Extrem praktisch ist das, da man dann nicht dauernd ein Tetrapack Milch öffnen muss, nur damit es (wie oft im Single-Haushalt) dann wieder nur schlecht wird. Insgesamt eine uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung!

Uso le proteine Bulk da tempo e mi trovo davvero bene. Sono molto digeribili, non appesantiscono e non creano fastidi allo stomaco. Scelgo spesso il gusto neutro per non stancarmi dei sapori e perché si abbina facilmente a frullati o bevande diverse. Per quanto riguarda l’efficacia, mi sembrano lavorare bene sui muscoli, soprattutto in fase di recupero dopo l’allenamento. Le compro spesso perché offrono un buon rapporto qualità-prezzo e una composizione pulita. Le consiglierei senza problemi a chi pratica sport o vuole integrare le proteine in modo pratico e affidabile.
