Health Plus Betaine Hcl + Pepsin Digestive Health Supplement - 180 Tablets

I use these when I suffer from acid indigestion. Unlike the general consensus that acid reflux is caused by too much acid, I believe the opposite-that it's caused by too little. (there's a whole book dedicated to this subject called 'Why stomach acid is good for you'. Worth a read. Anyway, I take these if and when I suffer from acid indigestion and they sort the problem. I also take them with protein meals to help with digestion. Others have said that they smell and taste awful. I disagree. The taste is a bit 'zingy' (but this is only a momentary thing if you don't like zingy) and the smell-what smell? I have a good sense of smell (in fact probably my strongest sense now I'm going blind and deaf 😂 (old age)) and I can't smell anything. Now going to order some more 👍

This is my second bottle of these tablets. I started taking them last year and then stopped as I was ok. Had to start again this year and great results quickly. For anyone with low stomach acid, digesting protein can be a huge problem as it tends to sit in your stomach for ages. I could burp 4 hours after a meal and it was gross! No more burping, no more uncomfortable heaviness in my stomach. Do your research though, to know how many tablets to take.

Effective but hard to swallow. I suggest throwing on top of your yougurt so it goes down smooth. I've had much less acid reflux after eating since I started on these. Will buy again. They do don't taste great but it's a moot point because you shouldn't chew them, as they can damage tooth enamel. The tablets contain the ingredients to make the acid, so don't worry they won't burn a hole in your sphincter!

Made my stomach issues worst.

I bought these to help with my acid relux. I have suffered with AR for absolutely years pretty much every day. I always assumed it was caused by my medication and popped antacids like jelly babies. Then I found out I most likely had low stomach acid not high and those antacids were doing more harm than good. I now take 2 or 3 Betaine HCL with my main protein meal and have not suffered any acid reflux for 2 months. The relief is amazing! I definitely recommend taking these if you suffer from low stomach acid.

These pills made me really sick. I’ve been taking Betaine HCL for a while, but from a different brand. Since the ones I usually buy were out of stock, I decided to try these ones out. After 2 or 3 days of taking them I started feeling really really nauseous every morning and having to wake up in the middle of the night because of the discomfort the nausea was causing. I stopped taking them and had to return. Went to the doctor and everything because the nausea lasted over a week. I don’t know if these are super strong or what, but I just know that my body rejected them and I’m a person with very low levels of stomach acid, yet I felt like these ones were too acidic.

I bought these as they were cheaper than my usual brand (Swanson caplets) and had generally good reviews. The most important thing to say is that they work, so from that point of view I'm very happy with them. The downside, when compared to Swanson, is that they smell revolting as soon as you open the jar, and if you don't swallow them immediately, they start dissolving / fizzing in your mouth, which is rather unpleasant. They're also not the easiest tablets to swallow, which doesn't help with this. So, they work, they're relatively inexpensive, but they're not the easiest / most pleasant option on the market. 3.5 stars
