I had to join some scrap bits of laminated MDF together to make a wider plank for a shelf. Tried these for the first time and got pretty good results. It wasn't perfect as there is a very slight step between the two joined pieces, but good enough for the shelf.

If you had only these type of dowel pins that would be fine, but if you have other types and use these at the same time - these might not reach as far and not mark the Wood.Such a little thing you might think? But if you’re using 6 dowels and 3 don’t mark the Wood... you’d be sad at the outcome. I don’t want you to be sad.

These dowel centre points are basic and inexpensive but they are accurate and easy to use and that is all that matters. The tips are sharp and leave a good, clear imprint. They seem well-made and durable and come with a lifetime guarantee or forever guarantee (which is of course an elusive concept but still...).The pack contains 8 centre points: 2x6mm, 2x8mm, 2x10mm and 2x12mm. They fit snugly and do not fall out when working with them. But, at the same time, they do not fit so tight that they are tough to remove.Delivery was very fast. I have no complaints.

Received item, NOT in original blister pack with Silverline logo on it, but loose in a padded Jiffy bag ..,( Not Impressed). And also not much of a marking point on them either.

Great product at great price. Variety of sizes is useful. Hard to find on the high street.

I bought two packs of these as each pack has two of each size and I needed three. I've been building some childrens' play equipment but was struggling getting three dowel holes to align. After failing to get it right, I ordered these dowel centre points. Wish I'd done it sooner, it would have saved me a few planks of timber.You drill the dowel holes on one side of the timber. Pop in the dowel centres then offer up the opposite timber to the side with the points. The points imprint the centre of the dowel hole as a guide for the drill bit.Very simple, very useful.

Although a few were not quite spot on with a bit of Stanley knife whittling I got the dowels to fit and managed to finish the job.
