Really cool to do this
Rekeyed both of my houses and all doors to the same key. Only have to carry one key now. Enough stuff to do an unlimited number of locks. Watch a couple of YouTube videos. It’s not hard to change keys and cylinders to the way you want them.

Great kit!
I can't add much to the existing reviews but I'll echo the sentiment. This is a great kit, not very expensive, and comes with TONS of pins. I already knew how to re-key locks so the lack of instructions wasn't a problem (as another reviewer noted, Schlage has PDF instructions on their web site for all their locks). I have re-keyed seven or eight locks with this kit so far and I recommend it highly. The deadbolt cap remover is the only piece that doesn't work in this kit; it doesn't match any of the Schlage deadbolts I've re-keyed so far, but you can just use a paperclip or other semi-sharp tool (even the edge of the plug clip remover) to hold down the locking pin while you turn the threaded end cap by hand. So it's not a big deal and considering the size of this kit for the money it doesn't bother me at all.If you need to re-key locks this kit is a great value.

worked great
I bought this kit with no prior experience with locks. I watched several video's on youtube and felt somewhat confident purchasing this kit. I had 2 schlage deadbolts and 4 schlage handle locks to change.I set up my work station right infront of my computer monitor and followed the video's step by step, pausing and starting as I worked through it.My first deadbolt took about an hour and a half. I got clumbsy and didn't use the plug follower right and my top pins fell out. Youtube search and I was able to find a vido on how to reinstall them. After working through my error I was able to finish the lock and was on to the next. By my last few locks I was down to about 15 minutes from start to finish.Everything you need is included in this kit and I highly recomend it. There are parts included in this kit that I can't see my self using but who knows. I have enough lock pins to last me a lifetime. One last note.......when dealing with locks, patients is required.

Complete -- almost
This it has almost everything for rekeying all kinds of Schlage locks -- only thing is the wrench to remove the cylinder doesn't fit some locks. Not a huge problem -- all it does that's special is holds down the little plunger that is supposed to keep the cylinder cap from unscrewing -- so hold that down with a screwdriver while you unscrew the cap, then happily rekey away. Some have criticized the case this comes in - it is not the sturdiest thing ever but it really doesn't need to be -- it does the job. Others have criticized the lack of instructions. If you are game to rekey locks you probably have at least a little mechanical ability and/or experience, but if you are still un-confident or outright stymied, look on Youtube for videos that take you through the whole process. Rekey a lock or two and you've paid for this set...

Worth every penny
Just re-keyed 6 locks using this kit in a couple hours.Everything I needed was in the kit.The kit already paid for itself, figuring in the cost of getting keys made.I had never re-keyed before, so first I downloaded re-keying documentation from Schlage web site. Their documentation is top rate. Then I found an old door lock and experimented with it. After convincing myself I could reassemble a lock and make it work again, I just set about pulling apart each lock in the house and putting it back together (one at a time!). By the time I was finished, I could rekey a tumbler in under 15 minutes. Anyone w/ decent eyesight could do better ;)If nothing else, it was satisfying to learn a new skill :)Now the whole family only needs 1 key for everything! I plan on re-keying my folk's house the next time we visit. Of course it helps that I always use Schlage because my dad always used Schlage. I have no idea if this kit would work on other manufacturers locks.

Schlage Compatible rekeying kit
We just bought a new house and I was concerned about the contractor and all the people that had to come into the house to help with the building and such. I had an estimate on how much it would cost for 17 locks to be rekeyed...650 bucks was the "best price I could give" per the locksmith. Well, after researching online, I decided to do this on my own. This kit worked great for my Schlage deadbolts and door knobs. I did all 17 locks in about 5.5 to 6 hours. The first 7 were done in about 3.5 hours and the last 10 were done in about 2 to 2.5 hours. I watched a video online and then downloaded the instructions straight from the Schlage website. It worked great and I would recommend it.

Has the pins needed for the tumbler
With the kit, I was able to re-key the two different locks for the two doors installed- now using the same key.

Tools are useless
Do not buy. The deadbolt cap remover does not fit deadbolts. I bought Schlage deadbolts, B62N V 505 605. The cap on the lock has 14 notches. The tool has 12. Both followers are useless. I bought a Schlage Plymouth Design Keyed knob. The followers don't fit against the cylinder. They need to update the design. The company refunded me $10. Thanks a lot. Maybe I can get a cup of coffee.
