Very good product

This is an amazingly beautiful veneer of natural abalone shell, in vibrant greens, turquoise, midnight blue, purples, with small accents of pink and gold. The laminate has been pieced on a black plastic sheet (about the size of a half sheet of an average piece of printer paper). It has a peel-away backing which is protecting the adhesive side of the laminate. The sheet was shipped inserted into a heavy card stock custom printed envelope, after being placed in a plastic sleeve…and arrived in perfect condition. I am excited to begin planning/designing a piece of art jewelry leverage this stunning shell.

Thin shell with some filled voids. Not as beautiful as cut shell, but it is much easier dtobuse and cheaper. The backing and adhesive is strong. Now if I can just find a better way to cut it cleanly...

Not sure if I got a bad sheet or what but I got the flexible and tried to wrap it around a fairly large diameter pen and it just frayed out badly when held down to the tube. I had a lot worse pieces than pictured but already had trashed them. One piece peeled off what looked like fish scales off the top, some sort of almost clear coating it appeared to be. Also mine didn’t really look like the pics I have seen as it has little tiny squares cut into it and makes it look fake when wrapped around something. When flat it looks great, it just can’t be flexed without coming apart. Not sure if they sent me the wrong one or it was just bad but it’s a lot of money for an unusable piece…From other reviews I can’t imagine that the product is usually like this or else they are using them flat or very little bend to it. I had a lot of the pieces come off in little squares. The frayed squares that stayed on just looked awful and would not lay down either.

I bought a few different shell materials from several companies. This one was the hardest to work with, it is a lot more brittle than the others, making it hard to get small pieces cut without chipping or breaking. It looks pretty nice though.

Beautiful material, the colors are great. Easy to work with, thin enough to cut relatively easily. And, requires shallower depth than many other materials.
