A Gangsta's Prayer

I hate a cliffhanger so 4 stars is very good. This book was messy but not over the top, people actually get caught up like this everyday. I am not completely sold on Prayer & Psalm, the main love triangle is so young 18,18,20. Even though I feel like the author is trying to vilify Tone again he's 18 is he really supposed to be on his forever after? And don't be mad at me for not being able to look past their age because the author brings it up several times. I'm definitely reading book 2, and hoping the characters get a chance to mature including Jackie.

This is another new author to me, I have to say the cover and title pulled me in. And oh Ms. Dedra if you didn't write ✍🏾 this book. I don't know where to start it's so much going on. Let me first say I am loving the reference of the Bible from the characters' names to the story of Cain and Abel. I love how you have what seems like the "better" family with certain names while the opposing family just has regular names.The mere fact that you left this story hanging on a cliff, I am so intrigued. It is so many unanswered questions. I want to know who shot Prayer was it Cain or someone from Tone's family. Is Jackie 🤰🏾 with Abel's 👶🏾? How much of Diego's rule going to play into his sons' lives as they get older and mature? The ultimate question is will Psalm and Prayer be together through all the toxicity from Diego, Cain, Big Tone, and Tone?This is a book that will snatch your attention and hold on to it. Ms. Dedra has composed the plot to a tee. To be able to write this many characters with different personalities is straight genius. I am anticipating the next installment. I know it will answer all of my questions plus more. The way Tone was treating Prayer but still felt entitled to her, made him a lame. The hand that Jackie was dealt with her mother, she most definitely did not deserve. I am hoping that Jackie and Prayer level up so they can get out of the hood. They are intelligent women that need to be a success. I feel like they both are on the right track minus the "hood" shenanigans going on in the background. If you have not indulged in this book, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Good read if you're able to suspend your disbelief. Prayer is 18 years old. 🙄 Psalm was barely legal and next in line to "the cartel" 😮‍💨There was a whole lot of nothing besides teenage drama and fighting going on, and little to no character development. Although mentioned several times, there was no good sex scenes, but given the ages I was okay with that.HOWEVER, I was still somehow pulled in and finished in one day. I'll attribute it to good writing. I liked the main characters, especially Jackie's funny tail self. I didn't like the Cain & Able trope because outside of some sibling rivalry and jealousy, there wasn't enough character development to support that level of hatred or imbalance, especially since they seemed to move as a close unit in the beginning.Since it's already out, I'll move along to the finale, otherwise I wouldn't be checking for it. May check out more from the author's catalog - if I can tell that the characters aren't as young as these.

This book was a journey! One thing Dedra B will do is stress readers out! The whole story had my head spinning. I like Prayer & Psalm together but it’s going to be work for them to have a HEA, it seems. Tone is the worst and I hope he gets dealt with. This was a great read, on to book two!

Where do I start with this author! I’m glad I found you! Where have you been all my life! This is definitely a page turner. I couldn’t stop reading. The way the author pulls you in describing each character makes you not like them for real! I’m headed to the next book now
