Works well
Good tool for home owner. I use it just once but it is hard to imagine any bad side of this simple tool.

Should be in every plumbing tool box....
This is typically an infrequently used tool, but after learning the hard way on a sink, I bought one for a tub replacement. Yes, like others I used to use the handles of slip-joint ("channelock") pliers to hold the strainer in-place while unscrewing the strainer nut. On a particularly stubborn one I broke the cross members and afterwards had a wicked time removing the drain assembly. For my recent bathtub replacement I made sure I had one of these and it was a non-issue.There were many different brands offered online and the big box stores have them for a higher price, but I settled on this one. The casting is smooth and is good quality overall. It has holes in it to slide a screwdriver into for more leverage. Again, it's not something you will need often but good to have in your plumbing arsenal - I can see a few more uses and even loaning it out in the future....NOTE: I purchased this item on Amazon for full price and have no affiliation to the seller. I try to write helpful, unbiased and insightful reviews because I also read reviews prior to making my own buying decisions. I notice many reviews lack helpful information, are not well written or give poor reviews based on not following directions, failing to read the product details prior to purchasing, inexperience or lack of skill. Writing useful reviews helps pay it forward.

Just buy one.
My wife and I recently updated the old iron tub to a new acrylic. When I was trying to remove the drain that had probably been in the tub for 50 years I just used a pair of pliers and that was a mistake. The pliers put too much strain on those old pieces of metal and broke them. When I put the new drain in the new tub I didnt want a repeat of that so I just broke down and bought this tool and it worked better than I ever expected and I regret not buying it sooner. Might not use it again for 10 years but it is still going to be there in my tool box.

its stronger than the drain im trying to remove...
the fit was too loose. the lack of a snug fit put stress on weak parts of the drain and the center of the drain shattered.... gave it 3 stars because i mostly blame the crappy drain for this...

As described, gets the job done
It’s a wrench. Feels a tiny bit plastic-like but still has enough heft to it to get the job done. Had to hammer in mine with a wrench to loosen the tub drain and this wrench held up just fine.

Worked like a charm!
I needed this tool after one of my kids shoved some plastic down the bath tub drain that I couldn't retrieve. The tool arrived quickly and worked exactly as I'd hoped to remove the drain cover allowing me to clear the debris. While I had it open I also found that I was much more thoroughly able to clean out hair that had accumulated in the drain.

heavy duty
This worked perfectly with removal of my bathtub drain and looks like a lifetime product.
