Get it if you are just starting your GMAT prep, but not necessary if you have the 2022 edition.
Having first taken the GMAT in 1996 to get admission into MIT Sloan's MBA program (Sloan MBA class of 1999) and having coached for the test for the past 15 years at Austin GMAT Review, I feel qualified to make a couple of succinct observations about the 2023-2024 edition of the GMAT Official Guide.First, the test is changing somewhat in Q4 of this year. If you are just starting out and want to purchase just one book, get this one. My students at Austin GMAT Review practice exclusively from the Official GMAT preparation materials (the book gives you access to additional material online - all official). If you want additional books, buy the GMAT Official Guide 2023-2024 Bundle, Focus Edition (also available on Amazon). Without reservation, I recommend the official GMAT guides over ANY third-party books - basically my students avoid anything that does not say Official GMAT.Second, while this book is an excellent source of real GMAT questions, the sections reviews that precede practice questions in each section are too complex and hide behind too much jargon. Many answer explanations are likewise needlessly complex. My students do not find the book's explanations helpful - instead they use the strategies I teach to master the test. The real value of the book is as a source of actual GMAT problems. If you know how to solve them in a way that makes logical sense to you, it should translate into a strong performance on the test. Bottom line, purchase the book for its practice questions but not for its concepts or explanations. It will be worth your money just for the practice questions! Finally, if you already own the 2022 edition of the official GMAT guide, it's not necessary in my opinion to rush out to buy the 2023 edition. Most of the questions in the 2023 edition, or more precisely the VAST majority of questions in the 2023 edition, have carried over from the 2022 edition. What has changed? The primary change is that Sentence Correction, Geometry, and Coordinate Geometry questions have been removed, shrinking the question pool to ~650 in this edition (down from ~1000 questions in the 2022 edition). Bottom line, if you have already own the 2022 edition, you can keep using it - just skip Sentence Correction and Geometry questions, and be sure to look at GMAC's website to become familiar with the new test format.Hoping that the next edition (2024-25) will be substantially revised.

Terrible Explanations
This books in very ineffective. Part of learning how to solve types of GMAT problems is having clear explanations for the types of problems that you do not correctly solve during practice. Unfortunately, the explanations that this book provides are not only poorly worded, but they regularly skip steps in the explanations so that the reader cannot logically follow the explanation from beginning to end.
