Not a big fan of some words in book.
Some of the words in this book could be changed. For instance miserable, jealous, and messing up. We were not a fan but overall very cute illustrations. Our toddler loved the book.

Excellent Book!
Everything about this book was great. My 5 year old loves reading it and learning about the weather - rain, wind, storms, seasons, clouds, and more. It covered a lot. The author and illustrator did a wonderful job creating a book in a manner that kids can understand. It's simple, it's colorful, it rhymes, and it's got just enough information without being too much. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a first book on the weather!

The writing lets down what could've been a great book
The media could not be loaded. I do love the concept and the perspective this author takes on the topic along with the use of rhyming and the 'fun fact' boxes, which are bolstered by the cute illustrations. I agree however with another reviewer about the words used in this book. I was going to return it because there are several negative words used to describe the weather such as "miserable" for rain and wind, "jealous" for clouds, "bummer" and "droop" for humidity, “messing up” for wind and “blame” for sun. This would leave your LO with quite a negative impression of those weather conditions. It seemed the author was trying too hard with some of the rhymes and settling on inappropriate words just to get it to rhyme. In general, the negative tone of the book is not what I wish to pass onto my child. However, I’ve decided to keep it and use labelling tape to cover over those words with my own interpretation that still fit into the context and rhyme. For example:• make us sort of miserable. —> to give us different experiences.• it’s sure to make you jealous —> it’s sure to make you zealous• and it makes you sweat and droop —> and it makes you sweat and recoup.• which can really be a bummer. —> which can make you want to slumber.• What’s that messing up your hair —> What’s that flying your kite• If it’s windy, blame the sun! —> If it’s windy, probe the sun!• you can state with pride —> you can use it as a guideThere are a few other words I’m changing, but the ones above are the main concerns. Also it’s worth knowing for every country aside from America that the book uses miles and Fahrenheit instead of km and celcius. The author also uses the American word Hurricane instead of the universally correct scientific word “cyclone.” I’d also bought "World Atlas" and "Solar System" from this series, which have slightly better writing and don't have the negative tone of this book, but they're writing still isn't to a suitable standard and will also be set upon with my label gun! Therefore, I don’t recommend this book as it is, unless like me, you’re willing to make your own changes. In which case becomes a fun creative project for the parent!
