Van Zyverden's Daffodil King Alfred Type produces bright yellow blooms. This daffodil is a must in any spring bulb garden. Daffodils (botanically called Narcissus) are long-term perennials and make for great companions to other bulbs, annuals and all sorts of shrubs. They accent most any garden and are an inexpensive solution to adding color to your garden. They are relatively pest free and deer will not eat them. Daffodil classifications are divided into 13 divisions according to their flower shape and heritage by the American Daffodil Society. They do well throughout most of the U.S., if there is a discernible winter. Easy to grow perennial spring blooms. Plant in a location with partial sun. Just dig, drop and you are done until spring! Daffodil King Alfred Type Partial Sun; 3-6hrs Yellow Narcissus Perennial Dormant Bulbs Deer resistant Daffodils will tolerate some crowding, but they prefer to be spaced about 3 to 6 inches apart. Plant Daffodil bulbs in the fall before the first frost hardens the soil. Dig a hole to the required depth. Place bulb in hole, pointed side up. Cover with soil and water thoroughly. Mulch in extreme climates. For container planting, bury the bulb three times as deep as the bulb is wide. After blooming, allow the foliage to naturally fade or die back. Don’t cut the foliage as it’s making food for next year’s flowers. Divide only when containers or planting spaces become too crowded.
