Microeconomics (Pearson Series in Economics): 9780134184241: Economics Books @ desertcart.com Review: My go-to reference for microeconomics - An earlier edition of this book was my microeconomics textbook when I was studying for my MBA at MIT Sloan. In fact, I was fortunate enough to have actually taken a class taught by one of the authors, Robert Pindyck. I bought the latest edition in Kindle format recently as a reference; and I've been rereading it. It's held up well. In fact, updates examining more contemporary topics in economics make it even better. I was an economics major as an undergraduate at UCLA; and I think this book overall covers the essentials of microeconomics in a clear and accessible manner. Highly recommended. Review: Good choice for first-time econ students or learners who need lots of specific examples - As a first-time Econ student in an MBA program with no prior exposure to the field, this book was a great crash course in the fundamentals. Our class was very old-school, lecture-style, and math-heavy, so the real-world examples and sidebars were immensely helpful for understanding and applying abstract concepts. The authors have also done a nice job keeping the stories and examples current and tangible, so we're not constantly rehashing the same agricultural commodity trade scenarios. If you're looking for a text that emphasizes the math, this probably isn't your best bet, but if you're looking to understand the concepts and get to know the field, this does the job well. I really didn't enjoy my class sessions, but I was able to read multiple chapters of this text in a sitting and get value and enjoyment out of it.

Good all-encompassing book
May not be the most precise or the easiest but gives a broad overview with a lot of illustrations.

Be careful. Amazon edition bait and switch
The book itself is fine, although terribly outdated. My frustration is that I had the newest edition queued up, but it was kindle. When I changed it to the hardcopy, I ended up with this old book. My fault for not paying close enough attention. Amazon's fault for the bait-and-switch tactic.

It is sad that this text even is allowed to be published ...
We are using this text now in class. I NEVER saw a textbook introduce formulas and not have a single example worked out for each. I HAVE NOW! It is sad that this text even is allowed to be published in its current form. Really authors? Why Pearson keeps this text is beyond me, must be another additional purchase needed to rip us off for more money to get the formulas worked out.
