Quality, made in USA
My purchase of this product comes under the heading of, "If only I had bought this first!" Unfortunately I didn't, so I had a little adventure before I got to this product: I was buying local, but the local store only had cheap imported stuff. Well, I picked out some sturdy-looking cast aluminum water heads and bought them. They were okay for a while, but I discovered one day, to my chagrin, that I couldn't get them off the hose, not even with a wrench. That's right, folks, they had welded themselves onto the hose. I had to take my garden hose (expensive) and clamp the end of it in a vise and then tighten the vise until it actually cracked the water head into pieces, to get it off my garden hose. Wow. I discovered that the "aluminum" water head was eroding in some weird way so that it had actually caked into the threads of the hose and set up in there so hard that I had to use a wire brush to get the stuff out. It had also completely ruined the rubber o-ring washer. Strangest metal I ever saw. I resolved then and there that I wasn't buying any more imported water heads. I had seen these Dramm nozzles advertised in a catalog catering to professional greenhouse operations and decided to buy a couple on Amazon. Wow, these are so much better. Yes, they are plastic but they are nice and sturdy and they break up the water into a much softer flow than the water heads I had even though the holes appear the same. I think these will last longer-and cause much less hassle!-than the junk I had before. Update April 2013: I deliberately left this nozzle attached to my garden hose all winter--a very cold winter, by the way--and exposed to the elements. I was delighted to find that the nozzle came right off, and went right back on again, easily. No damage, and no problems!

Works as advertised, great help on the patio
I replaced a selectable hose end fitting, one of those with stream, mist, shower, etc., and a squeeze handle. I put this fitting on an old watering wand with a shut off valve from DRAMM. Excellent upgrade. It's like a revelation to use this setup. It gives out enough water, with just the right amout of force for my potted plants of many sizes. It's a very predictable output and not too forceful. It really does works well for container plantings. You do get a bit of an initial gush at release if you use a shut off handle, but easy to manage. It's a durable fitting that is rugged metal and can be knocked about a bit. The plastic ones could hardly make it through the season, this one looks like it will long outlast them. Good value for the long term. Very pleased with it's usefulness.

Have low water pressure? Here's your answer!
This attachment and the other parts needed to complete a custom wand may seem expensive but they're worth the price. (other parts needed include the tube extension and valve if you want one) I have low water pressure because my well pump is about 40+ ft lower than where I water my container garden. A normal sized water breaker head (found on most water shower wands) just results in a drizzle to a heavy stream (no shower) that disrupts the soil surface making it almost impossible to start plant seeds in a container without most getting washed away by the heavy flow (scallions, radishes, and others that you wouldn't start in individual seed starters). Due to it's smaller size and fewer holes this water breaker is the perfect answer to get a nice shower from light to maximum flow under low water pressure conditions. For me the price for this and the other individually sold pieces needed to complete a watering wand is justified by the money I've wasted buying watering wands designed for municipal water pressures that end up given away or thrown in the trash. I can't end my review without mentioning that this item is well made to truly professional specifications (as are the other parts in Dramm's professional series)! This water breaker is also available in a plastic version at a lower price.

I had never heard of a " water breaker" before, until reading about them in a gardening article in the newspaper. I immediately googled it, and lo and behold, there it was on Amazon! It is different from a regular spray pattern as it has many, smaller holes. Delivers a really good soaking to plants, and is gentle enough, because of the smaller water droplets, on more tender plants. I purchased 2, one for a friend, and she completely adores it as well!

First impression is a solid adapter. Firm selector click when a spray setting is selected. No leaks. Would recommend.
