Q: Is this sound or motion activated?

Its a battery-operated indoor/outdoor animated talking light-up pumpkin. All you need to do is to insert 3 AA batteries, switching it on underneath, and then a simple tap on the head will start and stop the pumpkin from talking.

Q: Does motion activate it?

No, it is not motion activated. Once you turn on the switch located at the bottom it plays continuously for about 3 minutes. It then goes into hibernation and can be reactivated by placing your hand on top of it's head (just above the eyes, it will not activate if you place your hand on the back of the head). When active you can also place your hand on top of the head and this puts it into hibernation mode again.
