Great camera for the price... but it does have some small drawbacks.
PROS:Camera offers both wifi or wired cat5/cat6 connection. Which is great if you're like me who just wants to get it going via Wifi, then switch to wired at a later date for a more secure connection.Has a lot of technical features, which is nice for me as an engineer, but someone looking for a plug-n-play device might have a little trouble. The average person will still be able to get it up and running very easily. It just offers more configuration changes for the technically savvy.Image/video quality is very good. Definitely 1080p. Night vision works great too. Very clear and crisp. You can use a local 128g micro SD card to store video, or you can use an FTP server. The optical zoom is fabulous. So much better than digital zoom.Cons:The camera's connection with the FTP server won't work with firewall enabled. The camera uses not only port 21 for FTP, but also uses dynamic ports as well. Which means you need to create a firewall rule to allow port 21, and all the dynamic ports. This is not good for cyber security. Also, this workaround may also not be an option for some users (like me). For example, when using a wired connection, I was able to create firewall rules on my FTP server to allow the connection. But when I switched the camera to wifi, traffic now passes through my router's firewall (a wired connection is behind the firewall). And my router's firewall doesn't have the granularity to open/close specific ports. Only way to get it to work is to turn my router's firewall off completely. Yeah, not gonna happen. So, 128G micro SD card is looking like the only option right now.The way to move the camera is kinda wonky. You swipe inverted compared to how you would naturally swipe to move the camera left/right or up/down. And it doesn't allow for fine grain control. Which is difficult when you're trying to zoom in on a particular spot.OVERALL:I would recommend this camera for anyone looking for a quality PTZ camera for a good price. The only real bummer is not being able to use the FTP server. But I suspect most people forgo this feature.

Well-made camera with 5X optical zoom lens, metal body and bracket
It has a true 5X optical zoom lens plus digital zoom in the app. Auto-focus is effective. In HD mode you have full 1080P image, very sharp. Metal alloy body and mounting bracket. Does not come with a cloud plan, so you're on your own. It records to a user-provided micro-SD card (up to 128 GB). Motion alarm has optional humanoid filter setting that avoids false alarms from moving foliage, shadows, raindrops, bug and birds. It has automatic tracking (following) of a moving subject that triggers the alarm. I think the recommended Android app is CamHi, but I found that CamHiPro by the same maker is much better and allows access to more features. You even get fine focus control if you want to override the autofocus. There are generic IP Camera apps and computer software that can work with this camera. On the con side, the user manual is small, with type so tiny that you need a magnifying glass to read it. However you can find user support info at the maker's website. The unit does not come with any bundled cloud service, so if you want that you have to choose one separately. A cloud service allows offsite recording of alarms and makes it easy to access your camera from a smartphone over the internet.Overall I like the camera and recommend it unless you need one that automatically sets up remote access and storage.

Does not stay connected.
Camera must cold start to connect to wifi evey day. This is a second try replacement camera. Feature packed, fairly good lens, Jerky pan. Must be something better and more reliable for the price. Too late to return now.

Might be good if it had different software!
Another case of what appears to be a quality cam hamstrung by poor quality generic software!Update! After writing this I did some research and found that upgrading to Camhi Pro (free) all is well and all features work! to bad this info was not included with the camera.I am now very happy with this camThere are 2 Altop cameras on Amazon both look and sound very similar. One is this one at 79.99 the other is listed for 49.99. I have both. Fyi, pay the extra and get this one. The old saying you get what you pay for is very true in this case. the 49.99 unit is far less satisfactory. I am considering replacing it with this model.

Company sent different camera
When used outside this unit has to be within 15 feet of my new Netgear Nighthawk router to work. When it is inside my home it will work BUT mount it outside and it will not pick up the signal. I bought a Netgear Extender. The extender works with the other IP cameras but not with this one.~~~Update, the company sent a new camera and it works as advertised. I can get a signal at 50 feet. I have not tried any further than 50 feet. Thank you for reaching out and going the extra mile.

Pretty good camera
Very nice picture. Opt zoom is nice, whish it was 10x or better. Pretty easy to install. It really likes a hardwire connection or a very very strong WIFI signal. I had to add a booster and I'm not that far away from my wifi. If my signal dropped below about 35-40% I could never connect to it. Controls seem to be a bit touchy but that might be my wifi signal strength...about 45% now. I do not use any of the light or motion sensors. My Arlos do that.

Great night vision & optical zoom
Great night vision. Pics are from Brillcam HD 5MP WiFi Camera Wireless on left and this cam on the right. Sure it costs $10 more but you get great night vision, 5x optical zoom, & high resolution 1920x1080. Works great at 27 and under a snow load :)
