The Storm of Echoes: Book Four of the Mirror Visitor Quartet (The Mirror Visitor Quartet, 4)

so sad and mind bending
The whole plot bends ur mind, upside down and backwards and then you get repeatedly punched in the gut with the loss of characters. Good ending, would love some better closure for Ophelia and Thorn.

Afreakingmazing
The Storm of Echoes is the fourth and final (supposedly) book of The Mirror Visitor Series, and it gives all the answers and raises just as many questions. We pick up with Thorn and Ophelia still on Babel trying to find Eulalia and the Other and stop the arks from disappearing into the void. But what we learn is truly happening to the arks and who Eulalia A.K.A God is, throws me for a loop. Definitely not twists I could have foreseen, which made me love the book even more. But the way it ends, I am not thrilled with because it leaves it wide open for another series, at least another book for sure. But as far as I know this is the last book in the series. But it leaves so many questions unanswered.SPOILER PART OF THE REVIEWFirst of all, WHY did she have to do Thorn like that! Lost in limbo basically- either dead or alive. Just there? After all that they went through- all Thorn went through, that's how he ended up? And we didn’t even really get closure for that because literally the last page of the book is Ophelia plunging through another mirror to go save Thorn AND THEN IT ENDS. I want to know what is killing Archibald and how the merging of the old and the new worlds go and what happens to the family spirits for the time God wrote them as “normal” until the ink fades? I LOVED this book and this series! I hope that there is another book to at least answer what the heck happens to Thorn and Ophelia!I would a thousand percent recommend this book, which also means I highly recommend the entire series. The worlds are beautiful and harsh at the same time and Opheila as a character is written so well! I fell in love with her and her journey. It takes a lot for me to get invested into a story and its characters and felt like a piece of me ended with the last page (dramatic, I know, but accurate). And this book did it. I was upset, mad, sad and happy in all four books, and the author came across a language barrier to bring this story to millions, and I am so glad she did! Please run, don’t walk, to grab this series! The books in order are:A Winter’s PromiseThe Missing of ClairdeluneThe Memory of BabelThe Storm of EchoesI do want to talk about my favorite quote, with a different format this time,“You represent no one.” - everyone. So at one point in the book in the ending, everyone on Babel is saying this. And everyone is trying to distract the Other. They all shout this, they all say it over and over and over again, trying to take away the power the Other has given himself. It just showed me the power a mass can have, or give to someone- or take it away at the same time. It was just a powerful image in my head while reading it.My rating 4 out of 5 stars

Wait, WHAT?????
**spoiler alert** I'm really sad I'm giving this three stars instead of more, especially since one of those stars is granted only due to the quality of the writing and imagination in this final installment of the Mirror Visitor series.Although, come to think of it, too much 'imagination' might have contributed to its flaws. While I was absolutely delighted with the first two volumes, the resolution is needlessly, almost incomprehensibly, complex. Much of the book is devoted to Ophelia's experiences in the dismal Deviations Observatory, where she must continue to take personal risks to investigate the (literal) earth-shattering mystery she is attempting to solve. This (extensive) part of the story had some masterfully weird, dream-like qualities that reminded me of the Gormenghast books. Many of the characters Ophelia encountered in The Memory of Babel are here, as well as new ones, and all are conveniently vital to the overall plot. But none of them are as compelling as the ones left behind: Ophelia's family, Bernhilde, Archibald, Gail, Fox, and Farouk. We get some brief, half-hearted bulletins about them, until their final (abrupt) appearance at the climax. This climax was disappointing. Considering all the metaphysical elements that were being layered in during the course of Ophelia's epic search for the truth, to have everything come down to a boss-battle with a shape-shifter was a let-down.There's another character who isn't in here nearly as much as he should have been: Thorn.I get that Dabos may have wanted to prolong the tension between him and Ophelia by keeping them apart as much as possible, and I'll admit that this approach certainly gave their few scenes a lot of charm and emotional weight. However, since Ophelia has not advanced much as a character over the course of the plot's nearly three years, I was looking forward to see how the two of them could grow together as a couple. We got a few hints, but not nearly enough. I think this was a grave error in judgement on the author's part, as Thorn and Ophelia had the promise of being a truly memorable couple but she basically threw it away. Inexplicably, Ophelia is even shown as caring as much for Ambrose and Octavio as she does for Thorn. After such a detailed, often confusing, even bloated, narrative, the conclusion is, at best a cliff-hanger anticipating a book that will never be written. At worst, it's a slap in the face to readers who were expecting something else entirely.

Devastated in a good way
This book made me lose sleep, I was so invested in how Ophelia, Thorn, and their little band of allies would do the impossible and save the world. I will probably lose even more sleep over the ending and the losses incurred for them to succeed. I’m going to need a minute to sit with this story. Thank you, Christelle, and curse you too, for making me fall in love with these characters.

Amazing series
I am in love with this series! Such a beautiful blend of fantasy, romance, and mystery. I haven’t obsessively read a series like this since Harry Potter, and honestly, these books are better written in my opinion (not dissing the story line, I still love Harry Potter dearly). I could not recommend this series more!

Embalaje perfecto sin ningún daño
El cierre de la saga. Un poco confuso y me dolió el final pero siento que es un cierre decente

Loved it!
Loved this four-book series. Unlike so much contemporary fantasy, this series is beautifully written. I might even call it literary fantasy.

goed spannend boek
