Perfect Fit for Coleman RV Heat Pump - Description incomplete
After a trip to the Florida Keys in July we KNEW we finally needed to pick up a 2nd roof AC for our 42' toy hauler for the master bedroom (this allows us to cut off vents to force more air into the other areas). The master bedroom was factory pre-wired for a 2nd roof unit. We had looked off an on for a low or mid profile LOW BTU unit (we are trying to keep our overall power AMP load down to avoid tripping breakers). Recently we found a brand new Coleman RV 9000BTU Heat Pump from a local surplus/salvage reseller (saved a BUNCH of money). This was much higher end unit then we had started out looking for (heat pumps are more expensive then a traditional roof AC unit) so we were very happy. The unit did not come with the inside unit and the heat pump ceiling units are more expensive then traditional AC ones. After some research we learned this was the replacement to the unit listed in the installation guide for the roof unit and we ordered it - not via PRIME but still arrived fast.It was an EXACT/PERFECT fit. Installation of the interior unit was very straight forward following the instructions. The hardest part was getting the roof unit on top of the camper - it's pretty heavy and a bit bulky to carry up a ladder. We ended up taking the roof unit on top of our garage (a much lower starting point) and backing up the camper directly in front of our garage door. Then we simply stepped across to the roof of the camper and walked it to the front bedroom.Removing the crank up air vent went quickly then spent about 30mins cleaning off the old caulk - very slow process to avoid damaging the rubber roof. Once done put some new caulk in the holes left from the old air vent mount, let dry for a bit and set the roof unit in place. Then it was back to the inside to install the mounting frame, duct collar, connect power and finally the ceiling unit cover & knobs.A couple of important notes the item description is missing a couple of VERY KEY things1. The mounting frame and 4 bolts required to secure the roof unit DO COME with this kit - they are not listed. Because of this I ordered a separate kit I ended up not using. :(2. The collar ducting required to funnel the air from the roof unit to the distribution ceiling unit DOES COME with this kit. Again it it not listed and it was going to take 2+ weeks to receive one from an RV parts vendor - so I took chance and waited on delivery of this unit. All in all we are very happy with both the roof and ceiling units. Both worked flawlessly the first time powered on. Unit is easy to use, cools/heats quickly, looks great and has a low AMP draw.We highly recommend this unit if you have a Coleman heat pump.
