Q: Does this attach to the seat in the same exact way as the Doona manufacturers?

yeah but the shade part have bigger circles to insert. so i had to expand the holes with scissors on the car seat so the shade can fit. if you get what i mean

Q: Does this have the padding on the bottom area like the original doona cover?

Yes it has all the same padding. It looks pretty much identical to the original doona seat. The only problem I had were the snaps. They were too large for my doona holes. I had to swap some from the original to the replacement.
