Works with 2nd generation Ring Doorbell
I bought this on the off-chance that it'd work with my old 2nd gen Ring doorbell, even though the seller said it wouldn't. I've noticed two more people answered saying it would work.I can confirm as per the attached screenshot that it does indeed work, with the doorbell saying its hardwired. I've just put it up, and as is usual with this type of panel it's charging the doorbell nicely even in indirect sunlight. I expect that it'll keep it fully charged even in the depths of winter - and I live on the north tip of mainland Scotland!

Excellent Addition -Completely Surpassed My expectations
I have a number of Cctv cameras with built-in batteries , which although really good in relation to battery retention are not the easiest things to recharge with a battery bank or to take off to charge them indoors.I already have one in the rear garden that uses a solar panel and it has been great. I saw this panel was available and thought I'd give it a try for another camera which I had out the front .It arrived in a decent presentation box complete with mount, screws and wall plugs, Usb-c weatherproof grommet and instructions. It is nicely put together and finished. The surface which I expected to be smooth was a mat dimpled finish. The panel itself is a decent size slightly larger than one I have on the other camera.I opted for the version with a higher output of 6 watts. The instructions said to charge the camera battery first then plug in the panel to keep it topped up. I thought I'd try something different as the battery is really long lasting on the camera it was on 3/4 power I decided to just plug in and see what happened.I checked the camera on my phone app when there was a sunny interval and sure enough the charging battery icon was on (see photo).Within 2 days of very cloudy rainy November weather with the odd bright interval the cameras was topped up to full and it has been the same to date (2/12/20220 see photo).I do have my camera set on low motion detection but it still has been activating when it senses movement. I guess if the camera was operating on higher sensitivity it may not top up so quickly, but for me the it has been spot-on.I must be honest I was not expecting much to be truthful but I have to say it has completely surpassed my expectations. It has been really excellent. I'd definitely recommend it without hesitation.

Easy to use but little practical use.
This is a very small solar panel (20cm x 17xm) that, although it does as described, serves more as an entry point to solar power technology and how it works rather than providing much practical use. I tried to use to to top up a power bank, but even after two weeks in the sunniest spot of my garden it only managed to charge it to about 25%. Although a panel this size may be suitable for security cameras and / or doorbells, I wouldn't trust it as I'd always be wondering if the solar panel was giving it enough charge - which is not great when your property's security could be at stake. But to reiterate it is useful to show what solar panels can and (more likely) can't do before you go investing heavily in this technology.

Works a treat on my Ring doorbell - sadly stopped working after 6 months
The media could not be loaded. Edit 23/10/23 - sadly the panel has stopped supplying power and needs to be replaced after 6 months.Panel looks neat and well finished. 6w is quite a bit bigger than the 3.5 and seems to charge even in pretty low level light.Although it says it’s not compatible with the Ring doorbells- I figured I’d try it as ultimately they charge on micro usb.My doorbell is mounted on a 40 degree angled bracket (3D printed and available on here or ebay). This gives enough room for a 90 degree micro usb extension lead to be able to plug it in.As you can see on my other photo. Mounted at about 11 am (it was snowing at that point 😂) and then with a mix of cloud / sunny spells the doorbell was up to 80% by 5.15pm.The ring app shows it as being ‘hardwired’ rather than having solar attached like on my other ring cameras. No real issue though.Overall really pleased with it. Will definitely opt for the 6w panel as I gradually solar up all of my cameras.

Great for outdoor devices
The media could not be loaded. I've been looking into getting an outdoor security camera, but I was worried about how to power it and/or charge. Saw this and thought Why not. Homes have solor panels to power the home, why not the same for outdoor charging. The panel is great at charging whatever it's plugged into. But I haven't had the chance to test it on the long run. I don't know if this will hold a charge if the sunlight goes down or if the device will have enough charge till the morning.
