Sony has a good YouTube video (title: M.2 SSD Installation for PS5 Console) that makes installing the WD Black SSD very easy. When you turn your PS5 on, it automatically walks you through the quick setup. I bought the 1TB SSD and for $100, it was worth the money. Plenty of storage for the games I have (Modern Warfare, MW2, GTA Online, Sniper Elite 5). If you're worried about storage, get the 2TB SSD. My read / write speed was around 6,500 MB/s during install and it actually has 1TB of usable storage. One tip during installation, be mindful of the silver spacer under the small SSD screw. That spacer needs to be used with the screw to secure the SSD properly. The Sony video shows this of course, but it's easy to overlook when you're doing the install. It took me like 15 minutes, but I also cleaned all the dust out under both covers since I was already working on it I might as well clean it.

This expansion has suited me well so far. It doesn't appear to have heat issues with gaming, although I follow the implicit under 70% rule that comes with SSDs. I love being able to play more, although I still use an external hard drive for media and last gen games that don't have PS5 upgrades. It was also easy to install, although I personally don't find any difficulty installing m.2 to PC motherboards. Great product overall. Thank you, Sony and WD!On a side note, this emboldened me to buy an SSD this fast for my PC, and I love the new speeds my PC reached, especially for productivity.

I’ve been on the fence about buying an internal storage for my PS5 mostly for fear of opening up the unit.. But I got a good deal on the WD_ Black SN 850 w/Heatsink and I pulled the trigger, even after it got here it sat for two weeks still because of fear of harming the unit.. Finally I said enough is enough and maned my screwdrivers and had at it .. A little bit hard to pop the cover off the PS5 ( mostly my tentative) and finally was able to access the cover where the drive goes and it literally took me four minutes to install and re-attach the PS5cover… Powered up the unit , followed the easy install instructions and job well done!!!! Bottom line, great product and a very very very easy install!!!!!! Definitely highly recommended

Put your mind at ease with anything Western Digital. I've been using WD for over a decade and have had 0 data issues and I beat up my gear. When I was upgrading my PS5 I didn't even bat an eye and the price could not have been better. Super easy to install and you know it's the best technology there is. Fast speed for gaming and I know it will live as long as my PS5. Overall 9/10

It took about 5 minutes to get this installed into my PS5 (including the time to disconnect/reconnect cables and get the drive formatted). The case was pretty easy to remove - once you have it flipped upside down with the power connector on your left, gently press down on the right side corner closest to you/the back of the device, and slide it to the left (also hold the left side corner furthest from you to make sure the cover doesn't go flying). Remove a screw for the SSD slot, move the fitting where needed, and pop it all back together. The PS5 reported the read speed somewhere around 6500 once installed (can't remember if it was 63 something or 66 something, but in that general range), and it gave me the option to install either/both PS4 and PS5 games to the SSD.

Was fairly easy to install, besides having to go into the actual console itself. A little more expensive than I would hope, but I guess that's just inflation, eh folks? There aren't really many other SSDs out there that are cheaper than this for the same amount of storage, so I say buy this one if you're looking for on currently. Also comes with an included heatsink too, which is very nice, as I did NOT want to have to manually install one of those. Would definitely recommend this product.

Bought this SSD for my PS5 because I am always out of room. It was super easy to install on my ps5 there is a ton of videos on how to do it but only takes 5 minutes if that. Once I installed it I turned on my ps5 and it had me format it right away and boom 1tb of space for some new games instantly! Love it!

No more checking how many games you have on your system, easily plugs in and goes. Will be buying another one soon for my other PS5
