I had been using the children's Robitussin cough and chest congestion for several days with my 6-year-old who had a cough with congestion. His cough was not getting much better and I spoke with his pediatrician. She advised me to stop giving it to him because it contained Dextromethorphan HBr which suppresses the cough as it is thinning out the mucus with the Guaifenesin. She stated that it was important for him to cough and have a productive cough in order to break up congestion. I stopped using and it did seem to improve. I ordered this because it was recommended by another doctor on a different occasion with a very similar cold. I will keep it on hand and speak with the doctor or nurse if needed. I will also look for a version that contains the Guaifenesin alone for certain colds. I think this would likely work for certain situations. I would prefer that it did not have as many artificial colors, Liquid Glucose, Polyethylene Glycol, Propylene Glycol, and sucralose. Suggestions for improvement -remove the artificial color additives that have been linked to certain health conditions such as Blue #1 and Red #40
