Good cover - but not as durable as hoped
About as good as it gets in tonneau covers- durable, attractive, nearly watertight, and easy to install. Working solo and very carefully it took me under 40 minutes to install the Bakflip F1 on a 2015 F-150 with 5.5ft short box. Helpful hint: most installations route the drain hoses to the plastic plugs near the bottom of the bed. I cut the drain tubes down to about 4 inches long and used the holes in the sides of the stake pockets instead. No drilling required and a perfect fit. Update after 1 year: Trouble with this product. Not as durable as hoped. The panels are made from thin aluminum sheet metal bonded to a foam core. After about 9 months the aluminum started coming unglued from the foam and bowed out. It's completely loose on the underside of the tail section and about half loose on the mid panel. It's bowed out to the point you cannot even press it flat as if it has stretched or pulled out from the sides. Probably letting the panels fall closed eventually works the metal loose from the foam. The coating on the aluminum sheets is turning to powder and wipes off rather easily so it's turning from black to silver. The latch bar on the tail section just fell off one day! It was held on with a 1/2in wide strip of adhesive foam tape and seven small rivets. One day I closed the panel and it just fell right off. Warranty service has not been forthcoming. They said they would repeatedly send a kit to repair the latch but never have after months of pretending they didn't have my shipping address (when it was present prominently on every single message I sent them.) Rather frustrating so be prepared to not get any help from the manufacturer. I gave up on them and managed to reattach the latch bar with an ample amount of flexible marine glue and larger rivets. Drilled out the old rivets to slightly larger 3/16 size, cleaned, sanded, and cleaned the surfaces again. Took quite a bit of solvent and scraping to get off the old adhesive tape. I injected a generous amount of glue into the panel through the old rivet holes, put a solid bead of glue enough to squeeze out from the edges of the latch bar, clamped it all together along the whole length and put in about 11 3/16 aluminum rivets. It's there to stay now. Some of the other rubber trim is falling off now and needs to be glued on again. If you want this product I suggest you close the panels gently since they are not very durable. I do not plan to buy another bak cover unless they make improvements. I'm thinking a single piece hard cover is probably a better option now. It will look better longer and be a lot less frustrating. Warranty update: Amazingly Bak Industries does seem to honor their warranty and stand behind their product. After sending them a final message advising that I was giving up on their service they sent me a replacement cover. I was amazed. Buy with confidence.

Better than the Truxedo so far.
I just replaced my six year old Truxedo Sentry with the BAK Revolver X4s. The Sentry vinyl seemed to be shrinking and was definitely cracking. The shrinking made the Velcro closure on the side iffy and a couple of times it came loose and the wind got under it causing the vinyl to separate from the slats. It also made latching the cover closed difficult. It was out of warranty naturally. The Revolver was easy to install and the directions, packaging etc. first rate. First impressions are that is looks great and I think will be more weatherproof along the front and sides but I am not sure about around the tailgate. I do like the fact that you can close the tailgate without first opening the cover unlike the Sentry. I like the way the sides are held down versus the Velcro.

Great looking and easy to install
This cover is easy to install. High quality and great bed access. I always used soft tops before to have full bed access. This hard cover gives you ~95% bed access - which for me fits most all my needs. The only downside I noted is it did sit slightly lower that my previous soft tops (like < 1/4 in), but no major issue there.

Broken on arrival
**FINAL UPDATE** After my last update i did receive the replacement roll top and this thing has been flawless for a couple years (yea, totally forgot about updating my review). It has held up really well with Houston weather, operation is simple and keeps everything secure with minimal or no water leakage into the bed. Also i do not have any rattling or flexing while driving (generally 80+ mph down the interstate, gotta keep up with that Texas fast lane). Updating from 1 star to 4 stars, would be 5 if i didnt have all the initial issues. **UPDATE** Received a reply within 2 days of my original review, took me a few days to send the information they were requesting because I was busy with other things. They requested, Serial Number (located on a sticker on the underside of the cover, close to the bulkhead), Shipping Address, Proof of Purchase, and pictures of the issue (Please note: I don't know if theyre flexible with this but if you encounter issues, TAKE PICTURES!). I received a reply within 2 days of sending them the proof they requested and they stated a new cover will be sent to me and had additional instructions on what to do with the old cover, they did not request I send it back. They also stated that theyre sending the cover ONLY, all hardware and rail from the original purchase will be used again. Will update once I receive the replacement. Unfortunately because of demand, theyre estimating another 2 - 3 weeks before the new cover gets shipped. Keeping my 1 Star review until I have a working product. **ORIGINAL REVIEW STARTS HERE** Decided to pull the trigger on this $1K+ cover for my truck. A lot of reviews were read and watched, and seemed to really fit what I needed. A low profile hard cover that didn't take up any bed space and easy to operate. Well after waiting a little over a week I finally got the cover in and started my install. Install went well enough, nothing too difficult, but once I put the cover on to roll out and get positioned I noticed the first issue. The plastic guard piece closest to the tailgate that is supposed to help prevent peeling of the seal and guard you from sharp edges of the aluminum was broken off. Not a deal breaker, I've actually seen several reviews that said this has happened and BAK Industries has simply sent a replacement piece to clip on. Continued my install and noticed a bulge at the top of the cover towards the bulkhead, I immediately knew it was not supposed to look like that. So i went to investigate and to my surprise, one of the links to the cover was actually broken. This completely breaks the covers operation. The full siderail locking isnt able to engage, causes issues with closing, opening and the end of the cover itself (at the tailgate) ends up bowing causing a huge gap center of the tailgate and the side rails flex upward, also causing issues with contact with the cover and seals on the very corners of the tailgate. I have emailed BAK Industries and will hopefully get a reply soon with some sort of solution, if I don't I will be forced to deal with returning this thing. If they do respond and offer a solution I will update my review with information on that.

Good value at $850
Easy to install with 2 people. I have had the cover for 2 years and it works well and keeps the bed reasonably clean and protected. I like the fact is can use almost all of the bed if necessary (note it does block your view out the rear window) or it folds up flat (full bed access is limited). I would buy this again.

Good design
Gave a 4 for easy to install - only because some fiddling around is required to get the right fit and an extra pair of hands is virtually essential at a couple of points, otherwise it's pretty simple. Also when opened up all the way against the cab you have to put the rubber bumpers in the middle because the 2020 F150 cab rear is curved. Placing them at the towards the outer edges as shown in the manual will not work. Gave a 4 for water resistance - looks like it seals well but it has not rained here since I installed it. However, what are the drain tubes for? And some seals for where they go through the holes drilled in the bed plugs would be a good idea. Seems like water would get in when driving in rain. I may use some black silicone. (Tip - remove the plugs and drill them in a vice or clamped to a bench - and a hole saw works very well instead of one of those expensive cone bits they show. Don't try regular, Forstner, or flat blade bits!!) Delivery was quick. Packaging was great. Install took about an hour without rushing. Looks good and performs well. Should be very durable. It's easy to use and secure with the tailgate closed and locked. Love that it does not stick up above the bed sides. Very solid. No rattles or vibrations. Overall a great product. The price could be lower. It seems a lot for the amount of materials and manufacturing involved, but it's fairly competitive with similar higher end products of the same quality. Average gas mileage is creeping up again with only 500 miles on the new truck so far. (No, I didn't get it from the Ford dealer - they wanted almost 40% more - way over list price! And I'm not paying interest on it.)

Great product. Very solid and perfect fit. Easy Install, with a few exceptions.
Great product. Very solid and perfect fit. Easy Install, with a few exceptions: One of the first steps in the install is putting the strap clips on with two screws going into 2 opposite threaded sleeves. The hole in the aluminum to insert the threaded sleeves was not wide enough to accommodate the sleeves. I used a 1/4" drill bit to bore each of the four holes out which accommodated the threaded sleeves perfectly. There are some foam pads provided to be placed under the strap clips, although there is no reference to them in the instructions. No big deal. I figured it out, but a miss in the documentation. Instead of pulling the entire 2 bed plugs to run the rain drain out of the bed, I pulled the plugs and drilled a 3/4" hole in the bed plug and re-inserted, providing a clean look and tighter fit for the drain tube. There are two foam squares provided that should be placed between the cover rail plate and the cover where they meet. I believe it's to keep vibration damage to the cover and possible noise and rattle. Not mentioned in the instructions. Another miss in the documentation. With mine there were two pieces of adhesive backed bumper for the flip against the rear windshield. I used one for the center, but had to cut the other in half allowing me to place a second and third piece of bumper roughly 3" from the center bumper on either side. Was expecting 3 pieces of bumper. Again, no big deal, but not mentioned in documentation.

Great Fit and Easy Install
I read a lot of reviews on other sites that said the BakFlip was a top rated cover but saw some reviews that talked about scratches on their cover and metal shavings all in the box and over the cover. The cover I received had no metal shavings, no scratches and was packed extremely well. I was very pleased with the overall quality, handling and packaging of the cover. I have not used the cover yet in the rain so I am not sure how well it will keep the bed dry. I have a 2018 Ford F150 and I believe it will keep the rain out very well except for maybe the corners. The front two corners can easily be corrected with just a little black caulk but with the design of the tailgate not sure if you will ever keep the back two corners perfectly dry with any cover. My only issue with the cover is two parts. The first is the clamps that hold the cover to the truck. They really don't fit very well. You can tell they are a generic one size fits all clamp. They keep trying to twist when you install. I believe they will work just fine but I would suggest rechecking after some time. The second issue is there is a small foam bumper pad on the top of the cover, on each side, near the front. These are for when you fold up the cover all the way against the back glass of your truck, the cover will rest on these foam bumper pads instead of the top of the cover. The issue is they are just a foam pad that sticks to the top of the cover. I don't think these will last long. Will probably have to find something else later on to replace them with. For just a little extra the manufacture should put something here that will last.
