This book is exactly what our family needed!
I don't often rave about books. Many helpful parenting books or books with various parenting or child learning styles explained, I am only really able to glean one or two things out of to implement. That isn't the case at all with The Superkids Activity Guide. This book is truly full of things I can do right now with my kids, and there are templates in the back with some of the things you need to make some of the items in the book. I'll be making the visual reminder first! The way this book is set up is genius. First off, it has a lay flat binding. Brilliant! I wish more publishers and authors considered this. Next, the book really isn't geared towards parents. In fact the blurbs for parents are in small sections that give the reader tips for 'training your parents'. So not only is the book visually appealing, it is set up in a really fun manner. Nothing digs too deep, just enough of an explanation of wiggles for example, to get the point across while describing a way for the kids and parents to do or make something that helps with the particular sensory need.I am more impressed with this book than I thought I would be. I knew without a doubt that I would glean a few things from this, but am happy to report that I'm going to be able to use, remember, implment and ENJOY addressing all the various sensory friendly suggestions that are laid out. This is not the ordinary list of tips and tricks you would see in a blog where the points are laid out with " 1) Make a visual schedule 2) Allow more outdoor play " amd so on. This book is absolutely worth it. I recommend it highly.

Not just for younger kids! Surprisingly helpful for my 5th grader.
I follow the author's blog, so when this book came out I was going to purchase it but I hesitated because I was afraid it would be geared towards preschoolers or younger kids. My superkid is in 5th grade so I didn't want her to feel like I was giving her "baby" activities to do. I was mistaken when I made that assumption, and I wish I would've purchased it earlier! My favorite activities include:-- DIY Timer (giving my kid a concrete example of moving time is crucial, yet I never thought to make a visual timer)-- Morning Routine Chart (moving each item from "to do" to "complete" motivates her like no other!)-- Morning Stretches (not something I'd think of, considering how rushed we always are - but they've helped my daughter's mindset change!)Many of the activities include supplies we already have on hand. I appreciate that the author put thought into these activities so we didn't have to rush to the store to get specialty items. The book is written TO your child, which is great for older kids so they can practice reading. My daughter definitely needs all the practice she can get. I cracked up when the book read "Adults always tell you to 'just breathe'. It's one of those things taught in adult academy." The book makes sense to my kid, and that's worth gold. There are 75 activities (!!) in this book, so I'm confident that no matter what age your child is, you'll benefit - and so will they! If you buy it for no other reason than to simplify your mornings, it's worth the price.

Genius, well organized, fun and useful!
I purchased the Kindle version of this book, and I LOVE it! It is full of so many wonderful ideas! I am planning to implement many of the useful tools it suggests, right away, as I prep for a new school year with my kids. Also... It has many really genius sensory ideas! And I love how every idea is tagged with a number of lightning bolts, so kids have a visual to know if this is a tool to help them slow down their energy or bring it up! Genius! Besides that, every tool is notated in the back in an appendix for easy access, and in the Kindle version, there are links to send you back to the page needed! It is SO EASY to use! Also, this book uses GREAT encouraging words! I plan to read it to my kids, so THEY can help take charge of using the tools! It's beautifully empowering! This is one Kindle book that I'll be going back to OFTEN!

Empowering for Kids!
It was hard to write this review because our kids wanted to read it first! It was neat to see them get inspired to improve their own learning. Our daughter thought the DIY Chewable Jewelry (p 99) might help her concentrate during homeschool and stop chewing her nails (a personal goal right now). She loves helping with her siblings and thought Waking Up With Animals Walks (p. 17) was something they could do together in the morning. Um, yes! Our son is fascinated with the Anti-Time Warp Timer (p. 23) and Straw Rockets (p. 127). We're working on his concentration and extra energy right now, and I think these will help! I also think he'll enjoy the Chill-Out Squish Balls (p. 87) and Weighted Snake Lap Buddy (p. 93). My husband's a Special Education Director and wanted a copy of his own after looking through it. We have to get him a copy since I'm not parting with mine :) So great for ALL kids!

Simply Amazing!
It's difficult for me to put into words how much this book has truly blessed our family! I purchased it after it was recommended by my child's occupational therapist. Sensory processing difficulties can be overwhelming to try to understand and navigate. I love how this book starts out with creating a positive attitude and mindset regarding the "superpowers!" It is written to kids and explains how their senses and energy levels can affect them. It provides ideas of fun and engaging activities to help them get to the "just right" energy level. It can be so easy to feel frustrated and defeated in the journey of navigating sensory processing difficulties, but this book quickly made our journey more positive, hopeful, and fun! Even our children without sensory problems are benefiting from this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who has sensory processing difficulties or routinely interacts with children!

I really wanted to love this book
I really wanted to love this book. I bought it after Rachel Macy Stafford recommended it on facebook. It's a brilliant concept. I love how it is laid out, the way the activities are divided into chapters and the general presentation of the book. I just bought crown caps and magnets to enable my daughter to do one of the organisation activities because it looks like it might be quite good fun. Which brings me to the downside: almost every activity that my daughter was interested in doing required us to buy things to enable us to make it and there is not a lot of overlap between the different things you need to buy so it's quite a lot of shopping if you want to get through all the activities. And it also means you need to plan ahead because you're unlikely to be able to pick up the book spontaneously and do an activity.

Best suited for older children and teenagers
A great book that’s better suited to older children and teenagers - I’m not sure anyone would have all of the required materials to hand all of the time though, so you might come unstuck

Best Book of the Year!
Dayna is starting a movement towards positive thinking and expression when it comes to our kids and their struggles. This book is absolutely amazing! It is filled with easy to understand language for kids, fun activities that help them overcome obstacles, and constant reminders of how super they really are! Love it so much and recommend it to EVERYONE. It took a while to ship, as they sold out, but was definitely worth the wait!!!
