Put them in a ziplock style bag and bam, easy to clean, no mess.
I love these. They’re quick to hydrate (I just run the porous side under a small stream of water and move it around until I feel all the squares are as thick as I want them (I don’t maximally expand them as I like them to stay a little flatter, even though that’s less mass and less time to thaw). Then, I pop them in a quart size zippered plastic bag — that way, they stay clean and I don’t have to worry about a cell opening and dumping polymer granules in my kids’ lunch bags, which isn’t a big deal, just a pain. That being said, I’ve never had one of these rip and spill polymer. By under filling them a little, that keeps them a little more flexible and they still keep my kids’ lunches cool in an insulated bag. On hotter days, I use two. I’ve bought this size for convenience, as well as the larger sheets. It’s much cheaper to buy 5 large 24 cell sheets right now, and they’re easy to cut to size between the cells.

These are convenient and great for travel but theres a few things I feel I should make clear....1.). They do not stay cold or frozen for as long as they are made out to be.2.). A couple of the packs started leaking or something as everything I put in the boxes with it got a slime on it from the gel inside the packs (my solution for this one putting them in a plastic bag.)3.). overall it's a great product if you can manage to put enough in your lunch box to keep it cold.

Good for one time only
I am diabetic and need to keep my insulin cool. I was going to use these for air travel. So being the skeptic I am I tried them first. Like they say the swelled right up, froze real good and stayed that way for almost 12 hours. After drying back up I submerged them again, NOTHING, not a thing, totally useless. If you must keep items cool/cold they are a one time use only and not worth it.

Doesn't last long!
They were perfect for the size of a lunch box, but mine lasted only 5 months before it got a tear in it and leaked all over my sons lunch.

come in handy
These are great to tuck into a lunchbox and keep things cool. They don't take up to much space either.

Great product!
Soak with water, freeze - and it holds the temperature for long time with no watery mess. When you don't need it - let it dry, it's flat again and easy to store. Great product!

Odd little concept, but it works.
These arrive as flat sheets, you soak them in water and they swell up. They don't leak or make a mess, the gel inside locks the water into the little compartments once they are soaked in water. I particularly like that they are quasi-flexible so you can sort of wrap them around stuff in a cooler. The cubes themselves are rock solid ice, they don't flex, but the fabric they are connected to makes them somewhat flexible when frozen.I also have some of those blue flexible thermos sheets. They basically just encapsulate water in flexible plastic, while these mix water and some kind of gel inside the compartments. Those blue sheets are thinner than these, but that means they don't stay cold as long. I prefer these, overall, to the blue ones. They seem to stay colder quite a bit longer and the fabric on the outside of them seems to make them sweat less on whatever it is they are keeping cool.

Not happy
Not at all what I wanted. I returned them immediately. Still Looking for plyable, cube sheet cold packs.
