She loves them, 5 stars. For me though, meh, 3 stars.
I bought these for a former girlfriend. She loves them, 5 stars. For me though, meh, 3 stars. The lights have lasted longer than we did. Every once in a while I see her car around town & the lights still work (so does her horn & middle finger). They were about 25% of what she was expecting to pay for them from Toyota, so really 5 stars for that. Now she's just another smug, better-than-you-are, PITA, Prius driving liberal, but hers is well lit thanks to these aftermarket headlights. MAXLUX HID Xenon Bulbs D4R 6000K (1 Pair, Diamond White)

Received on time and as described
Sadly, after installation, the brightness isn't as bright as I thought it would be ... Therefore, I'm going to have my lights checked to see if the headlight array is position & aimed correctly and that the lenses are in good shape, which might be inhibiting the performance of the bulbs. if it turns out that's the case, I'll change my review - but at this time, I'm not impressed. That being said, the bulbs are functional and do shift from Low Beam to High Beam (they work).Installation isn't easy to begin with on a 2008 Prius and my mechanic made me aware of this in labor charges, but it was expected. Hopefully, I'll get good longevity from these bulbs - If not I'll change my review later.

These bulbs are a false economy.
I use D4R bulbs in 4 Priuses that work as taxis. This is much heavier duty than most cars are subjected to. I was persuaded by the mainly positive reviews to try these bulbs as they half the price of the OEM Philips. Sadly, after using this brand over the last year I have concluded that they are a false economy. They last an average of one month. I should have just ponied up for the Philips bulbs, as replacements have lasted a year so far with no failures. Don't be penny wise and dollar poor like I was. Avoid these bulbs.

GOOD VALUE
One of these bulbs lasted 24 months. The previous bulb, supplied by my independent and trustworthy mechanic, lasted 19 months. I had a warranty claim in my Prius file about a class action settlement for problems with Prius HID Discharge Headlights, but it was for cars under 50K miles or 5 years. My 2007 Prius was not within these limits when the bulbs died. I tend to think that the problem is not with these bulbs, but with my car, since the left headlight has never needed replacement, and the right is on its 3rd replacement. My 2007 Prius has 106K miles now, on the date of the third replacement headlamp bulb. My mechanic suggested buying a Japanese brand "Kioto", but the bulb he installed, presumably that brand, lasted 5 months fewer and cost 6 x the amount of the MAXLUX. Also note: the MAXLUX bulbs are white-toned light, the original bulb and probably the KIOTO bulb supplied by my mechanic bulb was blue-toned. You can see a difference when you look at them, but I didn't experience any problem when driving. In my experience, the bulb did not last as long as I thought it should, but it lasted longer than the one that I paid 6 times more for.

Exellent Alternative to Expensive OEMs for 2008 Toyota Prius
Excellent alternative to expensive OEM replacements. If your Prius (and I think almost all 2008 Priuses do) have the flickering problem, this is the way to go.Maybe not the ideal venue to complain, but shame on you Toyota. This is a widespread problem and MANY people on internet have complained about it. Headlights that are prone to going out while driving is certainly dangerous and worthy of a recall. Others have spent hundreds to replace the harnesses and relays to fix this problem, but the real problem is the bulbs themselves. I was mistakenly under the impression that bulbs either come on or are burned out and don't come on. This is simply not the case, flickering bulbs need to be replaced and mine have worked perfectly since being changed. I did not change the harnesses, relays, etc., only the bulbs and have had no problems since changing. Install is a pain, but can be done with help from youtube. The Bulbs- Diamond white has a slightly blue tint but not blinding to other drivers as some Xenon bulbs do. So far mine have been installed for 18 months and still going strong. Hope this helps and good luck with the install.
