Sortilege - Fortune Telling with Playing Cards: The Scred Art of Cartomancy - Divination for Beginners

I started out with tarot cards but I am finding the cards and the books that are popular now to be too modern. The emphasis seems to be on good news, hating on pip cards, and an excess o fat bunnies. I wanted to get back to the basics and Sortilège does that. This book uses an ordinary deck of playing cards that doesn't cost $50. There are upright meanings, reversals, and combinations. Good news and bad news in plain English. All very straight forward. I decided to spring for the paperback because I like to write small notes to myself in the margins of my study books but a few lined pages are provided to make notes.My one criticism is that the accent mark in the word Sortilège was missing from the cover of the book.

Very clear meanings of each cards with visual pictures of each card with understanding meanings that are straight to the point in basic english one could understand not like other books that leave u with more questions than you originally had.

I am not a big believer in "fortune telling" but this book provided lots of background information I did not know. Particularly intriguing section on coincidences. It's always good when you have a chance to open your mind to something new and this book does just that.

I cannot tell you enough about how much you are going to learn from this book. I found it very informative and was so excited to read how knowledgeable this author was. My son is into card reading and this has helped him learn more about it.

Finally ! A book that explains it . I am learning how to read cards myself so reading this book is a good guidance and has many references to go by . Good stuff !!!

One of the best books for fortune telling books out there. Very well explained and detail oriented. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to learn how to read cards.

This book reinforces colorism and racism by associating lighter skin with wealth, love, and luck and darker skin tones with the opposite. Study other books and recourses on playing card divination and avoid this one. You'll find different meanings depending on who's teaching. Obviously this Kelly woman is teaching from a place of false white superiority...

gives basic meanings and combination meanings. But no example of her personal readings or anything of that sort.

For a free book this is very good,and I picked up some good tips, especially combinations of cards.Definitely worth a read!
